after i was born (3 weeks early), mum developed complications - that 24 hrs earlier could have taken my life and probably hers.

mums parents had gone back home to the country - as she was "okay" and dad was pacing the corridoor- holding mums handbag - Dad was over 6' tall
they didnt know til they came back to visit the next day (no ph)

i have 2 younger sisters smile
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

I was really early as well. I guess we just could not wait to get into this world.

My mom had complications as well mainly due to the fact that she had polio as a child, she smoked the whole time she was pregnant with me and she was stressed.

We were both in the hospital for a while after she gave birth to me.

i was in hospital longer than mum was- and that was after she had surgery- poor thing- natural birth- and she still ended up with a tummy scar disbelief

back in those days, u had to be a certain weight to leave (6 pound i think)- i was 5 pound 4 when i was born.

I arrived 2 weeks early, on the day I was born...December 24th, my parents were hosting a huge Christmas Eve Dinner at our home, My Mom goes into labor, my Dad has to rush her off to the hospitol and leaves my brother and sisters with the guests in our home. Back then (42 years ago) it was not traditional for the husband to attend the birth, so he dropped off my Mom at the hospitol and comes back to the party and guests still in full swing. eek

My parents got into a big argument because my dad missed my birth. And on top of that, he had bought me a bracelet with my name on it, but the problem was that he spelled my name wrong. The bracelet said Yessica, but I'm Jessica lol

My Mom pronounced my white little girlfriend's name "Yessica" also, my friend would look at her like this confuse

My mom was so happy to have me out! I was 3 weeks late. At that time they didn't do inductions. They just figured babies would come out when they were ready. lol

Cool idea for a thread BTW...

The day I was born, the doctor came into the waiting room and told my father that his first child was stillborn, and they were going to do everything they could to save his wife.

Luckily, we both survived.

Well my dad was in the navy so my mom was with my grandparents. When she was in labor my grandfather said he was fine until they put my mom's feet up in the stirrups and then he was like "eek well time for me to go." However my grandmother wouldn't let him leave. she was like "You wasn't there when I was having mine but ur gonna be here for this one!" lol

Once I was born my mom said she held me for about a minute and handed me off to my grandma because she was so exhausted. She was like "I love you, but I needed some sleep" falloff

Shouldn't the question read "DAD" not "PARENTS", cos I can't imagine there's an awful lot of variation between us all regarding what our mothers were getting up to that day!

Anyways, my dad was watching the football on a new TV they had just purchased.

He was also having a little bonfire in the back garden, as I was a home birth and we are most definitely not the kind of family to serve up the placenta with a bit of cous-cous and some beans... biggrin
