Someone stole my credit card number....

Just got a cal from Chase... someone in the last 2 days has run up over $4,000 in credit card charges including airline tickets in Malaysia, almost a thousand dollars for another service, satellite radio, blockbuster.com, napster, etc etc etc.....

Thankfully I am covered by Chase, it is remarkable the brazen attitude of thieves.... almost all of that shit can be traced to someone or their address.... disbelief

Ugh, what a nuisance. Identity theft is huge these days, it's scary. Pretty soon we're going to have to get insurance for this...banks are not going to be able to afford to cover it anymore.

It was me Kenny - I had an uncontrollable urge to go to Malaysia, I downloaded some new Prince music, installed satellite radio in my car and brought some blockbuster movies so I could make it a blockbuster night in Malaysia.

Don't feel bad - it happened to me not too long ago. The person booked trips to Pittsburgh - and the card never left my possession.

been there...its shitty...
I had to do my own investigating when it happened to me because the places where my number was used wouldnt tell me who used it or what address things were sent to....after some pretty good PI work(if I must say so myself), I found out it was a set of neighbors in Anaheim, CA using my shit...I called the authorities there and got that shit handled...they had stolen several numbers, indentities, the whole nine...

Same thing happened to me. I don't know how they got the number, but I'd used the card earlier in the day to buy concert tickets and later on I tried to buy some Wendy's and my card was declined. WAchovia was really good though. I got just about all my money back and the fees waived and all that. I'd say try to use cash as much as possible. Cards are just asking for trouble. confused

Oops, that was me! lol

But seriously, this is a very important issue. There ought to be steeper security.

disbelief omg...i know all 2 well what a pain in the booty it can be 2 have ur information compromised...i work 4 a company that handles cases involving id theft, data exposure, and class action lawsuits...

...sorry 2 hear that u were a victim of some1 elses laziness and stupidity... hug ...it makes me really angry 2 hear about these kinds of things...especially now because of the work that im doing...

fraud alerts are definately a good idea 2 have...it is kinda booty cause they only last 4 90 days at a time... but at least theres no charge 4 em...and there are a couple companies that provide id theft insurance (cept in ny) and protection services...but its a damn shame that those types of businesses even have 2 exsist...chair

hope everything turns out alright 4 u...

Wow, and you think you have problems. Some sick and demented hacker just performed an Electrical Impulse Land Attack DDos Attack On me. And now, he is really in some deep shit. Because, my ISP not only took note of it but my electrical carrier has been notified as well along with the authoties(FBI) who have been monitoring his misdeeds as well.

I hope that some didn't get your chase info by net. Anyway good luck & hope & is resolved.

2 possible ways :
a) he used his CC at an outlet that had a rigged CC-reader so it copied the data when the card was read. They copy the data onto blank cards or use it online.
b) an online shop that he bought stuff from was compromised and CC-data was stolen from their database. That shouldn't be possible anymore now that PCI-DSS
is in effect, but we all know how it is with companies and compliance ...

one of my friends CC was stolen when they used it at a cheaper brand hotel chain that is alllll it took. The people working @ these places are paid poor....in turn they racked up a shit load on the card.
good luck with your problem. I have a feeling your going to need it. btw they also took out cards from department stores since they had your number they have access to everything about you this includes your SS number it is just beginning really for you.

LadyLuvSexxy

This happened to my dad. It was like, super crazy. The person charged some crap for the GAP. Then, they bought some computer equipment and an online game subscription. Now at first my dad thought it was me. I'm like...ew...no...I do NOT shop at the boring old GAP and I don't care enough about online games to want to pay for them. So he gets things set up straight, gets another card. That person got to that one too! eek So my dad eventually just had to quit using that card and closed all accounts. It was scary because to this day, we STILL don't know who it was. I got so upset that I actually went to a psychic (which SO did not help. Vague assed hints!!) about it. She kept saying how it was someone we knew. That had me wanting to call my ex-stepmom's kids, my cousin, and any other person I could think of smart enough to do some ill shit like that. It made me wonder just how much info was really out there. So now, my dad doesn't even use his card online. He calls in to order stuff. He pays in cash most of the time. But I'm actually a tad scared, now. I try not to order stuff everywhere like I used to.

Hopefully everything works out. mad I hope the coppers catch the thief and make 'em sniff rancid laundry for the rest of their lives.
