A Question For The Ladles

What kind of ladle do you prefer?

Do you like the metal ones or the teflon ones?

Is it more important to have a nice, pretty decorative ladle or are you more interested in utility (easy to clean, nice big scoop, comfortable handle)?

Do you own a noodle ladle?

I personalyl don't own a ladel. Or a noodle ladle for that matter. I dont' really make soup ever. And when I do it's just for one. So I pour it out of the pan or use my big deep spoon as needed.

Though I dare you to say noodle ladel out loud 5 times fast. biggrin

you should own a noodle ladle. ESPECIALLY you. lol

they're so convenient. depending on the kind of noodle, you can so easily use it in place of a strainer, and a noodle ladle is tons easier to clean than a strainer (collander, whatever the hell it's called). i hate cleaning those things. the starchy stuff gets all trapped in the little holes and you spend forever having to clean each little hole and sometimes they get really clogged and you have to poke a knife or a fork through to get all the strainer skidge out, and even when you think you've gone that extra mile to get it perfectly clean, you see more clogged strainer holes. i say to hell with it. use a noodle ladle.

The ladle depends on the food I'm cooking.
If it's a soup, where you want to have broth included, it's a solid ladle.
I have a stir fry ladle that's wire mesh, I use with a wok.
I have tons of ladles. My favorite, is from the spice bazaar in Istanbul, along with umpteen wood spoons. I always purchase cooking stuff when I've traveled.
My favorite potatoe peeler, I bought in Germany.
My favorite mortar and pestle, from the local Middle Eastern store. Solid as a rock.

Yes, my natural tendency is to run a ladle slow. Terrible habit. Really gets me in the soup, sometimes!
