John Waters New Movie - Fruitcake with Parker Posey and Johnny Knoxville!

John Waters is working on a new movie.

It's a Christmas film!

Johnny Knoxville and Parker Posey are reportedly attached to star in the flick, titled Fruitcake.

The plot is officially under wraps but is said to center on the title character, a boy named after his favorite dessert. He runs away from home during the holidays after he and his parents are caught shoplifting meat, then meets up with a runaway girl raised by two gay men and searching for her birth mother.

Sounds Fabulous!

Feel the same way about John as I do Prince... When I know he is capable of genius (Polyester, Hairspray, Cecil B. DeMented), I get irritated with the mediocrity of his other releases (A Dirty Shame, Pecker, Serial Mom)... I'll be first in line with fingers crossed though.

i can't expect a new john waters movie to match the magic of his "glory days" films any more than i could ever expect the next prince album to match the excitement of a "controversy" or a "1999". in fact, the results might be disastrous if he tried at this point in his career.

that said, in my opinion the only real disappointment in waters' post-hairspray output was "cecil b. demented". i really wanted to like that movie, but it was just way too unfocused and up its own butt. i think he DID want to make another "desperate living" or "female trouble", but with a big hollywood budget and professional actors. it clearly didn't work. (though i WILL say there are still a handful of very quotable lines from CBD, just like there are with every waters flick)

OMG...Serial Mom is one of my favorite movies of all time. A Dirty Shame was good too.

She amazed me with how good she was in Scream 3, which should have been a terrible movie.

I know ANX and a lot of people HATED the movie ADAM AND STEVE but she made me laugh in it soooo much.
