So GTA IV is out... Who's playing it and who's shitting on it and/or the entire concept of videogames in a lame attempt to feel superior? [Edited 4/28/08 23:24pm] Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Just dropped it in the Xbox. Be back in a few days! Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Picking mine up today. I'm a GTA fanatic, and this looks to be the best of the series.

For some reason I can't get into video games. I wish I could 'cause some of those ZOMBIE themed games look crazy.
I do like the Wii though. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

I heard on the radio that 40% of the nerds that lined up to get it at 12am planned on taking the day off work today to play it.

[Edited 4/28/08 23:24pm] Videogames are a big waste of time. I haven't played one in at least 15 years. That didn't work. I don't feel superior.

Great Review Seriously...lay it on us people who would spend the $500 on a PS3 just to play this... Quick review from me on what I've played so far. Good points- -Lead character is extremely likeable. There's a wonderful element of pathos to Niko who has come to America because his cousin was telling him how wonderful it all was, when really Roman is heavily in debt and Niko is almost instantly drawn into the darker side of Liberty City in order to help his cousin. And his naivety is taking him into areas that are way out of his depth - you can only feel a little sorry for him. And he's so bloody polite and friendly, you almost don't want to spoil his character by shooting innocent passers-by. (I said almost). -The 'living, breathing city' element of it is greater than ever. More unique people wandering the streets. The trees swaying in the breeze. Heavy downpours resulting in people putting their umbrellas up and the whole landscape becomes saturated with water. You hit somebody for no reason and immediately someone will get out of their car to help your victim. Better physics throughout, particularly when in-car and during any kind of physical collision/attack/etc. -The humour. British piss-taking at its best. The radio and TV shows are top notch and the gags throughout are typical GTA. -The story. Even only 12% through and I'm gripped. Again, the wonderful characterisation of the lead man is a crucial element, but the other characters are fully rounded and so far, nobody two-dimensional. -Getting drunk. Only by experiencing it in-game will you see just how fantastically authentic they've reproduced it. It would spoil it to give it away. -Graphics. For a totally free-roaming game, the graphics and frame-rate are incredible. Not as smooth as a racing game or 3D shooter in a limited arena, but considering what's going on onscreen at any given point, barely any slowdown. Makes the (excellent) Saints Row look positively last-gen. Minimal pop-up throughout the game and only very brief loading times between cut-scenes. Walking into a building from the street has no loading time at all and you just walk straight through the door. Yipee! -Attempting to cross a bridge into another borough before you're allowed. Try it, just try it! -Online play. Need I say more. No slowdown (well not for me anyway) and lots and lots of online options. Bad points- -The driving controls are awkward and taking corners is a nightmare. This could possibly be intentional as it makes car chases horribly frustrating. -The camera angles can sometimes be awkward. Not very often, but slightly annoying every now and then. -Too much night-time action. This is probably more a personal view, but Liberty City looks great in the daylight but not as impressive at night. Naturally, a lot of crime happens at night, but hey-ho, it's only a minor gripe. That's about it for bad points. This is all based on my Xbox360 version, by the way.

while the driving is a bit crappy at first, it isn't too bad once you get the hang it.....which I'm only slightly getting control of. Although the old GTAs how you could just chuck on the handbrake and do a perfect corner everytime that got a bit old and lost the challenge after a while. Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antenna. Do you read me Lieutenant Bowie, I said do you read me...Lieutenant Bowie

I switched to the 'CLASSIC' controls, which helps a lot. Haven't done a mission yet, just exploring, robbing and looking for weapons. I want to build up a nice arsenal before I get into the game.
