let's say you loan someone a forever stamp

and they offer to pay you back for it, and you take them up on their offer because you're JUST THAT BROKE.

would you expect the amount you PAID for the forever stamp or would you expect them to pay you the current USPS value of a stamp?

if they paid you the original price of the forever stamp, would you be upset? would you bring it to their attention? would you just keep quiet about it? would you judge their character?

i don't think this was taken into account when forever stamps were designed. disbelief

DISCUSS.

let's say the price of a postage stamp went up to 56 cents this week. the forever stamp would then be worth 56 cents. and if the price of stamps went up to 58 cents next week, the forever stamp would then automatically be worth 58 cents. and so on, into infinity. FOREVER.

the earth could crash into the sun and if there were enough survivors left for there to be a postal service, my forever stamps would still be good. it's like that. nod

lol

so when they pay you back, it's either what it was worth at time of borrowing, or what is currently valued at?

I think you both need to agree to it - either way - and have that put in writing at the time of borrowing and both person sign it (you might want to get a lawyer to draft it up - probably for the best nod ). You have to take into consideration inflation, and also if you are expecting interest on this loan, you might ask them to give you one and a half forever stamps back (or the equivalent monies).

Sounds like maybe you need some Ativan, for one, although the metaphor is greatly appreciated. Secondly, I wouldn't judge their character based on the situation because there's only so much you can tell from a distance, thirdly, they may be undergoing something you may fail to understand at the current time.

i think you're right.

but let's say we're operating in a somewhat less sophisticated society and i loaned you a forever stamp.

would you be all, "oh crap, stamps just went up in price, i owe anx 60 cents!"

or would you be all, "i know these stupid stamps were only 45 cents when he bought them, if he thinks i'm going to give him a penny more he can just go screw himself!"

or maybe you'd give me a current priced stamp back as payment, but that would only be valid until the next time stamp prices go up, which has been pretty frequent here in the states lately. hence the demand for forever stamps. nod

well if it were me, I'd give you back what I could afford. I sure I would save up so I could give you the REPLAEMENT value of it, since with the original purchase value, you couldn't even get yourself a new one. I'm nice like that, you would probably also be invited over to my house for some soup.

you listen up and you listen good: if i take ativan, it's strictly for recreation. talk to the hand

if a person is undergoing issues, then why would i want to loan them forever stamps to begin with? if they're THAT unstable, they might be writing love letters to death row inmates. there are people who do that, you know. they fall in love with serial killers they see on TV, and of course the serial killer is in prison and they don't have anything else to do, so they're all like "yeah, sure, let's fall in love" and then BOOM! suddenly i'm enabling some poor sap in their toxic relationship. i don't want that on my head. and you think *I'M* the one who needs atavan?!

oy vey, this world. i tell you.

see, if you borrowed a forever stamp from me, this would be good payment for now, but if you waited a month you might have to add on pie or at least crusty bread.
