I am ready for another Safari

I love animals. They are so much more interesting and wonderful than people.

We saw 9 beautiful Elephants on our safari ride through Yala National Park In Sri Lanka.
Then we went to a turtle hatchery.

mushy

We were blessed to see 9 elephants, one 1 year old and one 3 month old.

Hey lady. hug

I would *love* to go on a safari. It blows my mind that so many exotic animals are just everyday, 'normal' creatures to the locals. We have cats and dogs; the people of Sri Lanka have elephants. nuts lol Dan was telling me the other day that, in Florida, it's not strange to find an iguana in your back yard. WTF?!

Was it the elephant sanctuary you vsited? A mate of mine went to that... sounds amazing. mushy

oh yeah defininitely! and it's also not that unusual for them to come into your house, especially if you leave your porch door open.

It was amazing. We had to get up at 4am, our driver took us four hours south of our hotel to a huge National Park on the southern tip of Sri Lanka. They only have 250 elephants in the entire park and we saw nine of them that day. We did not make it to the Elephant sanctuary while we were there this time. They were too far away from where we were staying and we were really busy.

It is amazing to see the cows wondering around in Sri Lanka as well. Just like cats and dogs do here.

biggrin

I love their fuzzy heads. We were so close to them but I thought I better not reach out and grab the 3 month old. Momma was sort of protective.

Here's a link to a few more pics.

I'm sorry but I just don's see Phil being an outdorsy kind of guy.

I mean, the smell of his cologne alone would be disruptive to wildlife, let alone all the funny noises he makes.

I have the utmost respect for you beautiful lady hug, so I KNOW there has to be something redeeming about him outside of his handsome looks, despite the fact that I have struggled earnestly and in vain to realize it. I must concede I suspect the problem might be me--but I'm glad your happy all the same. hug
