Mother's Day is coming up...

Does anyone have some spectacular gift ideas. My mom is 63. What can I get her?
America's political system used to be about the "pursuit of happiness." Now more and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered.

I believe she shops at Target. There aren't any Walmarts near her.

flowers are ALWAYS a hit. if she has a favorite perfume, that's nice as well.

i got my mom a pink silk kimono for mother's day one year and she about had a fit. she loved it. but my mom was kind of unconventional. smile

This is going to be hard. I got her flowers last year, a big exotic arrangement expolding color and interest and she thought they were strange. My mom is...well, she's very monotonous is all I can think of. She likes to go au naturale as far as girl things. No hair color, no makeup, no perfume, no lingerie or silk pj's. She where's a terry cloth robe and that's about it. She does use lotion but I've bought that a million times, in fact 2 Christmas' in a row, oops. She doesn't like anything intellectual. She doesn't like anything contemporary. What am I to do?

You can't give your parents money.

upgrade her terry cloth robe to a really nice crisp white spa robe. it's not particularly girly or frou-frou. heck, *I* want a spa robe. lol

or you could just wander a bed, bath & beyond and find some kind of cool kitchen/home stuff for your mom. does she like coffee? how about a fancypants automatic coffeemaker and a pound of really good coffee?

Updating the Terry cloth robe could work. She doesn't drink coffee since she was hospitalized for a bleeding ulcer.

That's an idea but she is very picky about food. I think the only thing she likes is fettucine alfredo. This could work though.

heavens no. some of it does - black tea does - but there are many that are naturally decaffeinated.

I was wondering about this because I don't drink caffeine EVER and I've been drinking black tea lately and I've been getting migraines. UCH! Those suck!

you should try genmaicha - green tea with roasted brown rice. i think it's very relaxing. you can find it in teabags at just about any health food store. also, lots of herbal teas are decaf - most of the celestial seasonings teas are sans caffeine.

I wish I could get into green tea because it's supposed to relieve cramps but it tastes like dirt.

My Mom passed away 11 years ago, so my 2 sisters and I exchange gifts with eachother instead. I usually buy them a spa day type of package deal. I use to buy my Mom plants, that is what she wanted each year, she had a passion for plants, so I would go to the florist and buy her an exquisite plant arrangement.
