Good for you. thumbs up!

I've been a foster mom to dogs before and when they get adopted it's AWESOME. woot! I work with the National Brussels Griffon Rescue organization because that is the breed of dogs I have. It's definitely quite rewarding. Last summer, I took care of a 1 year old Griff who was in really bad condition when I got him. We were at the vet every week for a month. However, Harley was blessed to find a wonderful "forever home" and based on the Xmas pics the family sent me, Harley is flourishing and simply gorgeous.

This is Harley's web page from when I had him. He looks even better now. lol

BTW, I didn't even click on that thread cuz I knew it would mess me up. disbelief

Oh God. A weimie. sad

Mine died of old age just over a year ago. I still find it hard to see pics of them, and if I see one in person I just about fall apart. I couldn't watch the slide show because it still really hurts that she's gone. bawl

Congrats! You're doing a wonderful thing.

Be prepared to have your hands full!! I've had two over the years and they are great dogs. My last one was seriously the smartest dog I have ever come across.

thanks guys grouphug

i emailed her to ask why the lil guy was put into the system - i was trying to brace for whatever was comming our way, not knowing if he was visibly ill or not - turns out, the pup is a year and a half old and his "owner" had to many dogs, said he was going to shoot the dog, and his friend asked him not to, then took him home with him...

the friend isnt allowed to have animals where he lives, so he called the rescue center... the friend said he couldnt bear to see such a sweet animal killed, said he is very mild and gentle...

i cant believe someone would actually do that to an animal...

dont worry, my kids are chomping at the bit to get ahold of this dog and give him all the love and attention he can handle, we will make sure he becomes a happy well loved dog while he is in our care!

Anxiety

i met someone recently who fostered dogs in her home, and she seemed to be having a great time with it. her house was big enough to accommodate multiple animals, and even though there were dogs and cats everywhere, all the creatures seemed to get along with each other just fine somehow, and it seemed like a good set-up.

i don't know how good i'd be at it, because i'm afraid i'd bond with the animal and then when it had to go away, i'd be too upset. or maybe not. good for you for giving it a go, though! thumbs up!

thanks hug

i am a little concerned about the bonding thing... i have already asked the question 'what if we get attached?' because i dont want to break my kids hearts while we are trying to do something good for animals who need it.

from what i understand, we can decide to adopt the animal if we get too close to it. i'm really hoping that doesnt happen, only because im not out to get a dog necessarily, im doing it to help out. unfortunately, if we keep a dog, i dont believe there will be room to continue to help with others.....

oh well, we'll see... maybe its easier than we think to show love and attention without becomming to attached shrug i'll keep you guys updated along the way, and for sure i'll have pictures to share nod
