Its a boy!!! I've been thinking about this for awhile... some way I could help...
I have settled on an organization that seems like something I could help with... after reading that HORRIBLE thread about the starving dog that I reflected on for that whole night and most of the next day I got my response letter today, and its a boy we are going to be a foster family for a dog in need this summer watch this video and tell me you arent moved to do the same... http://www.heartlandweimrescue.org/ (scroll down to "Charlie and Parker slideshow" One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

Good for you.
I've been a foster mom to dogs before and when they get adopted it's AWESOME. I work with the National Brussels Griffon Rescue organization because that is the breed of dogs I have. It's definitely quite rewarding. Last summer, I took care of a 1 year old Griff who was in really bad condition when I got him. We were at the vet every week for a month. However, Harley was blessed to find a wonderful "forever home" and based on the Xmas pics the family sent me, Harley is flourishing and simply gorgeous. This is Harley's web page from when I had him. He looks even better now. http://www.brusselsgriffo...02-07.html BTW, I didn't even click on that thread cuz I knew it would mess me up.

Oh God. A weimie.
Mine died of old age just over a year ago. I still find it hard to see pics of them, and if I see one in person I just about fall apart. I couldn't watch the slide show because it still really hurts that she's gone. Congrats! You're doing a wonderful thing. Be prepared to have your hands full!! I've had two over the years and they are great dogs. My last one was seriously the smartest dog I have ever come across. [Edited 4/23/08 16:49pm]

That is wonderful. Fostering is so much fun and fulfilling.
I miss not having a pet but it would not work having one right now. Hopefully some day.

thanks guys
i emailed her to ask why the lil guy was put into the system - i was trying to brace for whatever was comming our way, not knowing if he was visibly ill or not - turns out, the pup is a year and a half old and his "owner" had to many dogs, said he was going to shoot the dog, and his friend asked him not to, then took him home with him... the friend isnt allowed to have animals where he lives, so he called the rescue center... the friend said he couldnt bear to see such a sweet animal killed, said he is very mild and gentle... i cant believe someone would actually do that to an animal... dont worry, my kids are chomping at the bit to get ahold of this dog and give him all the love and attention he can handle, we will make sure he becomes a happy well loved dog while he is in our care! i met someone recently who fostered dogs in her home, and she seemed to be having a great time with it. her house was big enough to accommodate multiple animals, and even though there were dogs and cats everywhere, all the creatures seemed to get along with each other just fine somehow, and it seemed like a good set-up.
i don't know how good i'd be at it, because i'm afraid i'd bond with the animal and then when it had to go away, i'd be too upset. or maybe not. good for you for giving it a go, though!
