OK, maybe...but I don't believe it totally burdens your life forever that you can't actually go on to do other things. But, hey...I'm not famous, so what do I know?

If you maintain a successful career, you will always be under scrutiny and won't be able to go anywhere without people wanting some of your time. If you don't, you'll still have the scrutiny, but with the added bonus of ridicule. The smart folk make their scratch under the radar.

Do tell... i think if you set manageable goals and define your success with boundaries that are different than the media-prescribed "dream life", you can be a model or a performer and have a completely ENJOYABLE and lucrative career. it's when they start dangling the poison carrots that things go to shit, and dealing with that is largely a matter of having some sense and discipline.

"5 minutes with..." in time out NY? sure. but that's what i mean. they're not trying to court britney/brangelica/madonna fame, and they exist in an environment where they don't suffer that kind of scrutiny.

I've seen these kind of folk get the staring thing, fer sure. If you don't mind people watching your every move like you're a sideshow act and blabbing about it on message boards, then I guess it's for you.

It's one thing for me to be a photowhore, but would it be wrong to allow her to get paid for it??? Your daughter is very beautiful I was a child model from the age of 6 - 16 and was always allowed to make the choice to continue each yr by my parents. I was never pushed. It was a fun and rewarding experience with travel and meeting of people from all over the world. I quit at 16 ( even though the $ was very nice ) because I grew to dislike the cattyness of the girls/women and the sexual undertones from the guys. That was my experience I wish your daughter well if it is what she chooses to do for herself

I love, love, LOVE working with kids (in fashion) and have done so for about 15(?) years. First and foremost because they're brutally honest, work from the id, and as a result unlike adults aren't greasing your palms the whole time they're interacting with you. Kids just ARE. As long as they're not hungry or sleepy they dole out entertainment for days on film, just by being themselves. It's so cool to hear your parent's approach to guiding you through that whole world: from my experience, being the person working on the crew side, for art direction, styling, and production, oftentimes being responsible for booking decisions, I was always troubled how some PARENTS were often the ones who wanted it more than the kids. It was as if they were living through them vicariously, it was horrible. It was a lways a breath of fresh air to just meet a family that was CHILL, with funny, chilled-out kids, that didn't push their wee ones like slave drivers with a Shirley Temple-Judy Garland complex ....and as quiet as it's kept... in addition to the comp cards clients keep on kids, there's also a little post-it kept attached as to whether or not mom/dad is stage-parent-y and intrusive... and it makes a major difference when you come down to a decision to book one kid over another
