I told her I want the iPod Touch. A friend has one and they are sooooo freakin' cool and it has Word and Excel and a place I can keep notes without having twelve billion little pieces of paper with notes to myself on them. But it only holds 1700 songs. It is sooooo cool though.

It's 300 bucks. Everytime I think of spending money on myself, I always think: what if I need the money for something else or I think of what I could do with the money instead of just relaxing about it. Anywho....

I need a new vacuum and a GPS for the car which I could get with the same 300 bucks or I could get a vacuum and a 2nd generation iPod whick would hold my entire collection for 300 bucks.

Suggestions? Thanks.

does the touch support bluetooth? If so you could get a BT GPS and some TomTom software and run it on the touch.

you can org on the iTouch

oh OH and iTouch has google maps application that you can download from Itunes too. You just have to be somewhere there is wifi. unless you get the iPhone

i have about 75% of my music collection stored on it right now (not to mention a bunch of videos and an episode of 'strangers with candy' ), and i've only used up about 47GB.

the word/excel thing is nice, but when your mind wants to go for a scrap of paper to jot down a note, you're still gonna use those damn scraps of paper.

don't you have a blackberry for that kinda stuff? i like to keep my pleasure toys and my business toys separate. it's like, you know, who wants a vibrator with a built-in scientific calculator?

i don't listen to CDs anymore. even when i had my zen, i would mix it up and listen to CDs now and then. i will still BUY CDs, but they go right into my iPod and right on the shelf. i mean, why bother? i have EVERYTHING in one shiny little pleasure unit.

i still think it's a pain in the ass that iTunes/iPod have file restrictions, but that gripe has quickly been eclipsed by all the enjoyment i've been getting out of my player.

i just prepare for it. i don't shop from iTunes very often because the files aren't very versatile, and i keep my regular ol' mp3 files on an external hard drive for when i want to make CD compilations (which is the biggest reason i'm annoyed by iPod's file restrictions). i just made a separation between the utility of my iPod and the utility of my music collection for CD comp making, and now that i figured all that out, i'm happy as a clam.
