I saw this when it came out and I have it on vhs. It didn't scare me though. Again, I was busting up through the film. But I thought it was cool. Are u hip to the film simply titled "Demons"?. That one is cool too.

I pull this from wikipedia. Just reading the plot is pure madness.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...%28film%29

The film begins when two young women receive tickets to a free film screening at The Metropol, a newly opened movie theatre. When they arrive they discover that a large crowd has shown up for the screening and they sit down to watch the movie, a violent horror film. Out in the lobby a woman has scraped herself on the face with a bizarre mask, and she notices that the mask is the exact same as a prop used in the film. She goes to the bathroom, and as she looks in the mirror the cut on her face bursts open, spewing out a foul pus. She is soon transformed into a bloodthirsty, fanged demon. Before long the cinema patrons are forced to battle for their lives as one by one they are transformed into vicious monsters.

Yep, that's it. I saw this when it first came out in the theatres. It was jam packed in there. I was siting dead up front in the first row. People were hollering and shit. I fucking love this film. I went and saw it 3 times in the theatre. Then I bought the vhs copy. I still watch it from time to time. It's one of my faves, no doubt.

Yeah, I dug American Werewolf in London. I have that too. It was pretty violent. People were shocked by it when it first hit. I loved The Howling and this one. In Werewolf In London, it was cool cuz u see him actually fucking people up. The camera didn't turn away from it like films usually did. That's what blew folks minds back then. The shock value worked well in that film. Like in the o.g. film Dawn of the Dead. u could actually see zombies taking serious bites out of people. It was a different look in that film cuz it was black people biting the shit out of other black people. And u just didn't see that in films. So there was a shock element there too.

I totally agree on:

THE EXORCIST
SALEM'S LOT

I also thought LET'S SCARE JESICCA TO DEATH (made for t.v.), the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, and parts of the TWIN PEAKS series.

Oh yeah, the opening to the show CREATURE FEATURES.

The Shining was good. But damn near anything from Stephen King is going to be good.

Like I said in another thread, and earlier in this one, I'm a reader. I've read all of SK's books, except for 2. His stuff blows me away. I love that feeling of having to look over my shoulder WHILE I'm reading! reading eek reading
lol

When I went to see "The Mist", I already had my eyes covered at one part. (I HATE spiders!) giggle

I'll give my Top 3. My list will get a little longer later if this thread is still active.

1. Poltergeist
2. The Exorcist
3. Salem's Lot (1979 Version)

These 3 horror films used to scare the hell out of me during childhood. Even the re-release of The Exorcist (The Director's Cut with 5.1 Surround Sounds) still have plenty of shock value when I seen it as a adult a couple of years ago.

Poltergeist
The Eye
pet cemetery
Carrie
Emily Rose
The orphanage (Spanish)

I'm a total wimp about gore, so my top list is a bit on the old-fashioned side:

1) The Haunting (the original, not the painfully bad Jan de Bont remake)
2) The Wicker Man (just totally disturbing, creepy)
3) Who Can Kill a Child (great, underexposed 70s movie from Spain, the best "creepy kids" movie ever)
4) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the 70s version)
5) The Ring (oddly, I like the remake better than the original, but maybe it's because I saw it first)

Movie I Had to Turn Off
Texas Chainsaw Massacre--really just way too disturbing for me to even enjoy

Movies That Weren't Scary to Me at All
Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien--pretty much most monster/devil movies
