What Are The All-Time Scariest Horror Movies On YOUR List?

I'll give my Top 3. My list will get a little longer later if this thread is still active.

1. Poltergeist
2. The Exorcist
3. Salem's Lot (1979 Version)

These 3 horror films used to scare the hell out of me during childhood. Even the re-release of The Exorcist (The Director's Cut with 5.1 Surround Sounds) still have plenty of shock value when I seen it as a adult a couple of years ago.

I LOVE horror films. Have all of my life. The ones that I'll list scared the shit out of me as a kid. Now, I just think their hella funny.

The Exorcist
Dawn of the Dead (1979 version)
Carrie
The Dogs (Made for television)
Amittyvile Horror (the original)
Magic
Salem's Lot (original t.v.)

There are many others that are favorites but when I saw them, they didn't scare me. I just dug them.

Dawn of the Dead (1979 version) is way better than that sorry excuse of a 2004 remake. It was both scary & funny at the same time.

Although the ones named scared me when I was younger (but I've never seen "The Dogs" or "Magic"), I just watch them for fun now.
I think "Poltergeist" is hilarious! Robbie gets his ass kicked over & over- even in the sequel! lol

I'm a reader. "The Amityville Horror" was a much scarier book. Same with "'Salem's Lot" I have a vivid imagination and when I picture the scenes, they stick with me for a while- esp. at night. eek

Oh... The original Japanese version of "The Grudge" freaked me out, tho. shake

I don't like scary movies, they've gotten really DUMB. And most aren't even scary movies, they're gross out films. I Especially dislike those Americanized Japanese movies. The originals are SO much better.

The only scary flick I really like is Carrie.

OK, now my list is going to increase.

1. Poltergeist
2. The Exorcist
3. Salem's Lot (1979 Version)
4. Hellrasier (Part 2)
5. The Thing (1982 Version)
6. Night Of The Demons (Part 1)
7. The Howling
8. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978 Version)
9. Return Of The Living Dead (Part 1)
10. A Nightmare On Elm Street (Part 1 & 3)

Long before 28 Days Later (a horror film that I haven't seen, but did read the comic book novel), Return Of The Living Dead was THE first horror film where the golden rules on how to kill zombies were flush down the toilet. Shooting their heads off weren't enough! boxed lol They had to be burn with fire or electricity.

I LOVE horror films! Even as a kid when they would scare the mess out of me, and have me sleeping in my mama's room on the floor beside her bed. evillol I would just keep going back for more.
And yes, Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time.

The Exorcist, for sure.

Also, did anyone see The Exorcism of Emily Rose? That one scene where the guy wakes up and Emily Rose is all contorted on the floor scared the crap out of me.

The part of Emily Rose that freaked me out, was when she was in the barn, and all the demons came out. eek
