Recently, I started a thread for the ladies to discuss one of my passions: shoes. The ladies showed mad love and I'm sure that more than a few dudes were lurking to get the skinny on our passion for footwear.

In an effort not to leave the guys out, I now want to talk about another passion of mine, one where size DOES matter and you better come strong or not at all.
This thread is for all my hardcore audio/video-philes out there. Yeah, baby, I'm talking about ELECTRONICS.

I want ya'll to get down and dirty and tell me every nasty lil' detail about what you've got, how it's hooked up, what are you running it on. If you don't have your dream setup, tell me about the components you lust after.

Tell me all that good 'n nasty shit, like:

How many HDMI inputs does your equipment have?
How many inches are you workin' with 42, 50, or MORE?
What's your aspect ratio and do you have 1080i, 720p, or 1080p?
How many watts and channels are you banging with?

Again, this thread is for the guys but if I have some girls that get hot over hi-fi equipment too, you're more than welcome to join in the fun.

That said, I'll show you mine, then show me yours.

This is the setup in my family room, which I connected myself:

TV: Samsung - 50" 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV (16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, Inputs: 3 HDMI, 2 component video, A/V, USB 2.0 port input)



Cable: DishNetwork's Dual HD tuner

Receiver: Denon 7.1 CH/5.1+2 CH A/V Independent Zone Home Theater/MultiMedia Receiver (110 watts x 7 channels, 3 source 3 zone capability)



Speakers: Definitive Technology - 3-Way Floorstanding Speaker with Built-in Subwoofer (which can handle up to 250 watts power), Dual 5-1/4" 2-Way Center-Channel Speaker, & Mythos Gem Dual 4-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (mounted on back wall)







Ipod: Denon Ipod Dock
DVD: Sony 5 disc changer
Turntable: Sony
CD Recorder: Sony

Wherever possible I connected my components with HDMI cables.

I'm not too technical, I just like what I like but I am shopping for some Denon equipment on Graycap's recommendation, I'm getting an iPod Touch tomorrow, I plunked down a grand for my laptop: 260 GB hard drive, DVD burner, intergrated webcam, all the bells and whistles and I got some new Shure headphones even tho I really want some Sennheiser's. Audiophiles make me:

Also connected

Windows home server streaming web content inc 1.2tb storage and 10 cals accessed via high speed wireless and gigabyte internal network distributed throughout the house so all laptops can stream content and backup

Bedroom

32" HD LCD with Sky decoder and DVD player (JVC) we have better things to d in bed

And Denon is tha shiznit, best receiver for the money out there. The Denon iPod dock is the bomb too cuz it works directly with the receiver. You can control your iPod with the Denon remote and view the iPod info on your TV.

I work at home and I've actually put a dent in my new mattress because I don't have to leave my bed for a bomb ass TV viewing experience. Sadly, the TV and components in the family room get turned on 1-2 times a week.

I feel so deficient. I don't really watch much TV, and I listen to all my music off of my laptop these days.

Not sure. I'd say I'd like a big plasma TV but then we don't watch a whole lot of DVDs and with the picture on the satellite here most of what we'd watch would only look much, much worse. I'd probably just like a decent audio setup, but nothing too extreme as I used to be into all that and it became obsessive and annoying with the cables and everything. No more. To be honest I'd just like my synth and basic Yamaha keyboard from back home and my old Yamaha sampler but I won't be shipping them out here.

Hot damn, I love me some audio equipment, but I seem to have lost touch with the present day. I don't get the plasma/HDMI/DVD player that plays cd's with 5 speaker set-up.

Don't care for tv or radio. So I got a 100watt Sony amp, with a Technics cd-player, old (wooden) wrecka-player and a cheap dvd-player that plays all formats.

Wanted: might buy two speakers so I can actually hear the music...

Similar, though my baby's stain is blue green and is sporting EMGs, which can take the tone from Marcus Miller round to Fred Hammond gank! with the twist of 2 knobs.



My dearest's standard pickups have been replaced with Chris Kinman's Blues model, cutting out 60-cycle hum and delivering everything from sweet jazz and blues tones to Santana-like leads when overdrive reaches saturation.




Of course, most of my work has been done on this: I've replaced the standard speaker with an Eminence Patriot RWB, to give me more transparency and a sweeter sound for jazz and blues. I've also swapped out the stock tubes for the same reason and to give me more clean overhead. Had it rebiased to retain clarity, too. It delivers wonderful Robben Ford-John Mayer sounds, especially when paired with



No pup mods on this one. The tone is round enough already to forgive any 60-cycle hum. The push button combines the neck and bridge pickups for a tele sound, which enables me to flip to Prince-funk mode with ease (and I hate teles, so it's a win-win for me). I'm thinking about swapping the neck for a Warmoth Stevie Ray Vaughan model (the thicker neck and shape are awesome for blues work, and complements the heavy strings I use).

I have two plasmas: 50" samsung 1080p and a 42" Panasonic 1080i.

I have basic connections to direct tv receivers with component wiring.

Everytime I watch a game I have to run the burn in protection because the score and station logo burns into the screen. That's why I put an LCD in the bedroom because I knew that TV would be on virtually 24/7 and with LCD no burn in. Why didn't you do HDMI instead of component connections?
