I am neither pissed or pissed off, I just thought it warranted a bit more respect than turning a world trade center/ground zero thread, of which I feel strongly for into a phil taking a dump pose is all..

OK, I haven't done my research here but maybe you UKers can confirm if this is true or not. I was offered a job in London last year but couldn't get around the work VISA in the timeframe needed for me to accept the position. I was told by someone that works in London on a work Visa that I have special consideration with the UK government since my grandmother was born a british subject. Does this help in my getting dual citizenship if I needed it?

If anyone back to grandparent level held a UK passport or was a citizen then you can apply for a UK passport.

That removes the need for a Visa

I'm not sure anymore, since the laws have *just* changed.

What I know is that: permanent residency and dual-citizenships are harder to obtain. BUT the Highly-Skilled Migrant's Visa has become easier to obtain, albeit providing you can tick the specific boxes. That gets you into England for 5 years.

Welcome to the Big Apple! Org note me if you want to go to any museums....I work within walking distance of The Met, The Guggenheim, The Neue Gallerie, El Museo del Barrio, The Jewish Museum, and the National Academy. I am happy to get you in free to any of them...(and you don't have to feel obligated to hang out with me).

You could also do the Staten Island Ferry to go past the Statue of Liberty. It's free and once you get to Staten Island you just get off, walk briskly back around the terminal and get right back on the ferry to head back to Manhattan. It's nice to go around sunset so you see the Manhattan skyline just as the light are coming on.

PS. MoMA is closed on Tuesdays. wink

On the exact day?! shocked And how is her citizenship affected by your marriage? It's not like in the states where you have all but absolute consideration because you married a native citizen?

I am working on an irony, but it's late in the day and I can't quite word it correctly so stick with me.

Is it not rather ironic to be in New York, at ground zero, becasue you had to be in that particular city to sort a residency visa. A visa requirement that has come about recently due to the tightening of citizenship laws. Citizenship laws that have been reviewed because of our changing political environemt as a result of the 9/11 attacks.

No? Made me go hmmm

I love New York, I stood on top of the towers late in 1999 and haven't had the chance to go back yet.

Hope you get things sorted and hopefully catch you both at the weekend drink

Safe trip back, hug
