Please, take thirty seconds to read this.

Until today, I've considered myself through with this site, but need it now more than ever before to ask something very important of you. In the past, I've witnessed the positive effects of our collective thoughts (and/or prayers, if applicable) for so many of our loved ones. We're all real people and I've learned that in so many ways over the past decade in our silly, remarkable community (sometimes the hard way, unfortunately).

Regretfully, with time, I've burned a bridge here and there, and don't treat those of you whom I love with the amount of reverence you deserve--you all know who you are: I love you from the bottom of my heart, and I wish it weren't on this thread that I feel compelled to tell you that.

My brother (in spirit)'s new wife just gave birth to their daughter this morning. Her full name is Amelia Lynn Maile Furney, and she was over three months premature, weighing one pound ten ounces. She's beautiful, you guys. For those of you whom I regularly keep in contact, this is one reason why I've not had the ability to continue to do in the past weeks/months. I won't go into great details, but I've been dealing with legal and emotional support for these three; their doctors have malpractice on their hands and I'm doing everything in my power to assist them in these areas.

But this is about Amelia. She's incredible. Up until today, I had no idea a baby even had a fighting chance when born this prematurely. Please, if it's all you do for me, send a fireball of positivity and hope toward Hawai'i today. I'm forever in your debt, and from the bottom of my heart, thanks so much for reading this.

one of my closest friends gave birth to twin daughters who were three months premature. it was scary and there was an overwhelming amount of medical drama that she and her husband went through, for quite a long time - but they pulled through it and the girls are fine (one of them recently got into trouble for taking mommy's book of poetry to daycare with her - it had a classical painting of a naked man on the cover, which as imagery goes is apparently is a big daycare no-no )

so it IS very possible for little amelia to pull through and be causing trouble in no time. i hope the very best and i will be pleased but not be at all surprised to hear that her condition has taken a turn for the better.

My best friend's first daughter was 5 weeks premature and I thought THAT was bad. Of course you will be in all our thoughts, I sincerely hope you will all be fine, and we will swop auntie stories one day soon.

My prayers go out, INSATIABLE.

Wow, under two pounds must be tiny! My nieces (twins) were born 2 months premature and weighed 3 pounds each, that was dramatic enough. I can not imagine this ordeal for your friends family.
They and you are in my prayers.

Thanks guys, your support means more than you know. Ugh, I hate crying.

James (my little brother) just turned twenty. He's the youngest of four, will always be a baby to me, and he has so many other current struggles in his life right now (this trumping the rest, obviously). He's just an angel, and it's the most unfair thing I've ever seen happen to a loved one.

Anyway, I obviously can't hang around today. Love you all, and thank you Chris for that inspiring relief. I do hope we're just as lucky.

I hope and pray that this baby survives and remains a part of your family As others have said, it is possible for the medical community to sustain her life and keep her healthy. This sounds like a real learning moment, for yourself and your family. Keep strong and ALWAYS know you have someone to turn to when you need a shoulder. You have been there for me in some of my darkest moments. I'm more than honored to be here with you where a small light shines

Like Chris, I have a friend who had twins who were born scarily premature. I'd never have believed it if I hadn't seen how tiny they were with my own eyes. Those boys are 4 now. And we've had 4 years of medical advances since then! My sister-in-law's sister also JUST had to have a baby delivered who was less than 2 pounds and they are about to bring her home, finally.

I know this is a trying time, but here are several examples of things working out for the best.
