Are kids allowed to have beards in high school?

I need to know! What are the rules about facial hair where you (or your kids) go to high school?

Surely they are. My friend Pete had a full beard when he was about 15 and there was never any problem about it. lol

Don't see why not?

It's just facial hair.

Most of the boys at my high school have a very thin mustache or nothing at all.

depends on the school lol around where i live (and have lived) private schools tend to say no, while public schools lean towards yes. but that's not always the case.

I remember when I was in grade 12 there were a couple of boys who would get a 5 o'clock shadow by lunchtime, imagine if they had been allowed full beards! omfg

At my high school just about anything was OK, as long as it wasn't overly distracting or didn't cause some health concern. We had full beards, dreads, mohawks, afros... you name it. nod

I'm not sure what the rule on student facial hair is in my kid's school district -- she's only in grade 1 yet. smile

my high school was private- only senior boys were allowed mustaches, but no other facial hair. TONS of guys would get in trouble for having sideburns that were 'too long' rolleyes lol

I know an all boys Catholic school that doesn't allow it. But the kids do it anyway. (Hey, Jesus had a beard!!)

But most teenage boys facial hair looks awful, anyway. Exept for the light mustache look, thats pretty hot.

Where my kids go to school they arent allowed to dye their hair "unnatural colors" either. Mind U one girl I know dyed hers a dark auburn and they told her it was "un-natural" eek

my best friend got in trouble a few times for that, black hair was 'unnatural' (she's a very pale natural blond), but their real goal was trying to stop any kids being too goth. goths were full of satan. they banned 'excessive amounts of bracelets' for the same reason. nod

When I was in high school we had someone who used to come to school with a full beard.

Even though it wasn't documented or forbidden, you could tell the staff disapproved. It got so evident that eventually the poor girl shaved her beard off. She ended up making more friends that way too.
