I don't hear many people around me complaining but fuck looking nice in a nice car...fuck that! It just doesn't make sense to be driving an 8 cy with a 6.0 liter engine...

I did that a year ago.
I'd had 3 SUV's over the last 10 years or so (an Isuzu Rodeo and 2 Chevy TrailBlazers) and when gas got to be north of $3 a gallon at the end of '06 i was like "that's it!!!!!"

So i got rid of my SUV and got me a.....

MINI COOPER S.

Love it!
not spending nearly as much as gasoline, i get better gas mileage and i'm having way more fun.

Okay...I couldn't run for President. I can't lie and I don't have the nerve to send people to War. I'd spend most of my time trying to hold peace in Uganda. Rich Republicans...the New Republicans wouldn't like that.

I feel you son!!! If I didn't have a job where one of the perks is that I drive THEIR cars while I am here four days a week, I'd be right with you!!

So I only have to drive my truck 3 days a week! That shit eases my pain in a big fucking way because it takes about 80 bux to fill it and I only get 15 miles per gallon!! But I only have to fill it maybe twice a month because of how I work.

Damn shame gas prices can dictate so much of our lives! Price of groceries goes up, goods goes up because it has to be shipped and due to the prices of gas!!

We are waaaay to dependent on oil in the United States. Although folks've been paying the same amount perhaps more per LITER in Europe for YEARS so I don't know what y'all are belly aching about lol.

The bottom line is there's far greater demand for oil on a global scale now, with China's 1 billion+ population being the world's economic superpower. Add that to all the manufacturing taking place in India with their 1 billon+ inhabitants...and the fact that we have no longer have real friends in oil holding countries. All the other countries can freely work with Russia, the middle east, north Africa and former Persia(aka Iran) to obtain as much oil as they want from them to their hearts content. Unlike the rest, we don't hold the economic or diplomatic cards to do anything other than take what oil they'll dole out to us at exhorbitant prices. Unfortunately, we're learning the hard way how mistakes on the international foreign policy front can bite us in the butt (and the pocket) on an individual basis at home wink

The good news though is that since they are making fuel efficient cars available, it's cool as hell to see people taking an interest in them. Some folks are still a little behind the times though; I was checking out the comment page of the lifestyle section of a midwest newspaper... where a couple new to town was commenting how fun it was to take the train from their block in the suburbs to the baseball/concert stadium downtown for events. I swear to God they got LIT UP by some people for being brainwashed by a "liberal conspiracy". They got REAMED for not choosing to drive knowing there would be no traffic jams when they wanted to attend games or concerts, I was truly like "what the F... whofarted Why can't a person keep a few dollars in their pocket and get their drink on at the Stadium without all of THIS ?" Unbelievable...

A monthly pass to the public transportation here is $100. I'd say it's much cheaper than what most people pay for gas.

LOVE IT. Soooo cute...! And those little buggers are FAST as hell, too. One of my girlfriends has one, and everytime I get into her mini I have to hold on to the hand rail, it's so damned "zippy". I always feel like I'm in a heist movie when I ride with her lol

Mine equals about USD$50, I think. I have a taxi account too, but most of my taxi stuff is work related and reimbursed. But I do take about 10 taxis a month for personal outings, for maybe a total of USD$150 bucks a month max. My last car (here in Europe) was a Saab (that I owned), and between the gas and insurance the mintainance was easily USD$500-600 a month. When it broke down one day and I saw the repair bill eyepop, then honestly calculated the monthly costs of keeping it...I sarted taking the subway and never looked back wink
