What's in your "Black Box"?

What do you have "locked up" in your home? What is yours that you don't wish to have folks perusing about in? Or things you would not wish to let random folks know you are into?

I live alone. So I've got nothing in hiding.

Of course, there are a few things I put away carefully in drawers when, say, my niece visits. But other than that, no.

Except for some porn on my laptop which I wouldn't want family members to have to come across (no pun intended! no no no!), nada.

My last girlfriend (and current BFF mushy) used to joke that she had to "de-perve" her place before her folks visited (i.e. hide all BDSM-related accoutrements).

I have black and white (very light) bondage photos and illustrations all over my bathroom. My parents have never seen them, but I'd take them down if they were coming over. redface

Nothing. I deleted whatever porn I had several months ago, and I don't have much with me, since I don't have a set place where I am.
The only thing I might hide is chocolates. Those are MINE!

The only black box in my home, that resembles any kind of black box is the COX cable box, with basic cable, expanded cable (Discovery Times Channel, National Geographic, The Science Channel, Discovery Health, etc.), and the Music Choice Digital Channels. Good stuff.

PBS has some great informative shows as well. Last night, "The Truth About Cancer" was shown. Intense, emotional and very informative information.

Same here, and my drawers lock. The only think I worry about is my nephew coming across the Kevin J Taylor novels I bought years ago (can't throw them out) and thinking they're new superhero comics - they don't fit in my drawer with the other shit. confused

My opinion is, if you have to hide the fact that you like something from the people you love, that something probably is affecting your self-esteem.

Really?

I just look at it as very personal and maybe inappropriate for some (especially young) eyes, so it's kept away, out of view.

Like, I like to use the bathroom with the door closed...but I am not ashamed about using the bathroom, it's personal. I don't see it affecting my self-esteem.

But all your friends know you use the bathroom. You're not hiding that fact; you're just practicing common decency.

Not the same as hiding an interest from family members for fear they will find out and think less of you.

BS. My mother and my 17 year old niece don't need to see my bondage pictures in my bathroom. I'm not ashamed of them in any way, nor does it affect my self esteem. It has nothing to do with them thinking "less of me" it's just not a discussion I'm going to have with either of them. As Erin said, some things are private.

Honestly, the only people I keep such personal things private from would be my son (for obvious reasons) and my family...since they have no interest in hearing about any of it.

I'll speak freely about anything if people ask me. But I do think some things are personal enough to not have just laying around...and I think things like this are also about common decency and it really has nothing to do with me hiding things because I think they will think less of me.

Just remember that what you feel about certain things doesn't mean we all feel the same way as you do about it.
