Damn, if you're going to London you want to be selling internal organs just to be getting a drink and a sandwich.....!
I live just over 100 miles north of London and we can only ever DREAM of buying a can of Coke at those damn prices.....! This is not an exit

I want to go visit Ellie and Jon, go to OXFORD, and go to the Hellfire Caves. I don't want to impose on Phil and Val since they're already hooking me up. Thanks so much for the advice! driving in london is INTENSE though. if you're gonna do a few days there, i'd find a place to park, slap £20 on an oyster card, and use the tube exclusively while in the city. plus if you're up to it and the weather doesn't suck ass , a lot of stuff in london can be seen just by walking, imo. food prices will make you weep if you're constantly converting back to dollars in your head. just try not to think about it if you can. and if you enter the dates you're going to be there into http://www.londontown.com/, you'll get a list of events, exhibitions, etc going on. it rocks [Edited 4/17/08 12:54pm] Thanks darling. I plan to go to London maybe a couple of days. I'm mostly going to venture out to see small towns and such. I love London but I did a lot of the touristy things 2 years ago. I think this time it's going to be more relaxed. Yeah, when I get into town I think I'll park the car for the day and walk around and take the tube. I researched that and it was easier to fly to Amsterdam than rail it. My only dilemma is when I get back from Amsterdam I have 2 more days in the London area. I don't know if I should rent a car again. From the 5th to the 15th or so I rented a vehicle. Dont sweat it man, just be here and we will sort it

I'm not up north, per se, just north of London, but anyways, we don't BUY Coca-cola in these parts, they have special Coke Kitchens and drop-in centres where a guy can go and the nice volunteer ladies there don't judge and don't ask any questions...Just a warm bed, a warm smile, and a chilled can of caffeinated soft drink made with vegetable extracts. This is going to sound weird but I can't wait to see what WEIRD thing is going to happen while on vacation. Something alwasy weird/funny happens. I always have some great stories from my trips.
The last trip I got lost for 2 hours walking around. I got lost another day on purpose and decided that I need to get back to my hotel. Right when I thought that, I looked up and my hotel was right in front of me. I had managed to make a complete circle. I was smoking outside of my hotel one day late at night and this guy approches me and starts asking me to repeat everything he says back to him. I'm sure he was a little slow. It was a very strange experience. Then there are the things I can barely talk about. heeeee heeeee heeeee. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! I'm panicking!
The rental car company is saying that I will need a $1300 deposit to rent the vehicle that I have already paid for. Ughhh. I think I'm going to have to cancel my car rental 'cause I aint go that kinda money. I'm going to need to cancel. Of course there is no refund. I should've read the fine print. If anyone knows anyone that has a lower deposit please let me know. [Edited 4/21/08 12:03pm] MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! I guess I don't know your plans but I've never gotten a car when I've traveled there. Public transport tends to work so well. I guess it depends on all where you're going... |

I want to rent a car because I don't want to inconvenience anyone. The last time I stayed in London and everyone kinda met there so that was cool. This time I'm staying on the outskirts and I want to venture out. I also want to treat Phil and Val to some outings. Wish me luck sweety. Can you just see me on the freeway on the wrong side of the road with the stickshift in a different side that I'm used to? Heehee!! I'm proud of the work I've done. But it's earmarked for a vacation for me later in the year. I'm either going to Thailand, Bali or Belize. I'm still deciding. Woohoo!!! I'll be there June 5th through the 17th. Oh my God. Thailand, Bali or Belize sounds amazing. I can understand why you want to go somewhere tropical. actaully about te car thing, if youre staying right in london you dont need car.
just get around by tube, rail buses etc, its all very easy and quite cheap. you can buy one day travel cards that let you roam around, jump on/off etc or you can buy tix to use the boat up the thames thats fun too. if you plan on visiting things like the tower of london that costs a lot £20 ish i think plus any other attraction like London Dungeons costs a bit. Museums are free and the gallerys etc of course its free to look at the outside of buckingham palace but you have to be prepared to walk a fair way to get to it from trafalgar square. changing of the guard etc is free. most of central london is walkable tho if you want to visit carnaby street, oxford street covent garden, you can walk it all just get a good map, its all very close. in fact even if you dont have a map, its all so close you will stumble upon these places anyhow. the cost of living is quite high here tho, so food etc can cost a bit but if you offer towards regular grocerys for your hosts its a hell of a alot cheaper than eating out! If you want to see a show, go online and look for lastminute.com or sites like that where you can buy last minute shows, plus if you goto leicester square where there are some clubs and cinemas you can buy tix there as well. walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous
