Mom giggled at me..... I'm not talking about stuff you hide from kids, although it begs the same question. I'm referring to stuff you (the generic "you", not specifically you, Dex) hide from your parents or other adult loved ones. Stuff that you don't want them to see. The reason you don't want them to know you're into that stuff is that you're afraid they'll think think less of you. So at some level, it affects your self-esteem. Consciously or unconsciously, you're thinking, "If they know I do this, they'll know there's something wrong with me." Therefore, you think there's something wrong with you, and your self-esteem suffers. People have the right to do what they want. But if they have to hide it from those who love them the most, doesn't that raise valid questions? | |
