I love you too. hug

Trust me, I'm going to be that 70 year old dancing his ass off at the club. I guess what I love about the club I frequent is that most people are there to dance and really get into the music. It's not really a meat market. I mean it's cool if you're there for that but realize that a lot aren't so they need to respect everyone. Also it's like 70% gay which is great because it means that the straight people there are cool and fun.

I love you Miguel lol 'cuase I love your philosphy. I just broke up with a boyfriend who never wanted to go to a club or dance, only lounges and to have drinks. yawn I felt so stifled and he would make remarks about being the oldest people in the club and feeling like someone's dad. Plus he can't dance worth shit anywyay. I LOVE music and dancing and that's the reason I go.

kiss2

It's funny 'cause my dance partner told her girlfriend right away that Sundays are her day. She's welcome to come along but expect to be there for a while.

My Sundays are sacrosanct as well. I take a few Sundays off but if I don't experience the dance I start getting withdrawls.

This thread is interesting because there is definately more than 1 philosophy. People have to understand that in my case when I go dancing it's not to "pick-up" or to get drunk or to be trendy. It's almost a spiritual experience. There are 10 or so of us that are almost always there and it's great to see them. The whole experience is amazing. Plus we all love to dance. If we see someone that is truly enjoying the music they're welcome in our circle. If it's someone that is rudely trying to feel up one of my friends then forget it.

Okay, I'm sorry. I'm rambling.

I don't really see the point in going somewhere to just go there at any age.

Totally depends on the crowd. I don't club (& haven't for years) but the last time I was dragged there I wasn't the oldest chick in the room & there weren't too many youngsters either. It'd say the average age there was 28-30... You're too old when you feel too old... But definitely stop when you're over 50 & alone exclaim
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

If you're a fag hag surrounded by gay men, you can rock that shit well into your 40's.
If you're a gay man, you can go up until your 55 or 60 so long as you're in shape.

If you're anybody else, stop at 25.

Thats pretty spot on in the gay community. My group of friends are between 33 and 60 and we still go out bout 2 times a week. Granted its not usually to "dance clubs" but thankfully chicago has a rich enough nightlife that one can find numerous bars that are age diverse.

Though it does help that most of us work in the gay bars and thus are kinda on a pedistial to begin with.

Though non of us are twinkie chasers, and knowing how to tip sure helps.

MIGUELGOMEZ is touching on A LOT of things that I completely agree with. I remember I answered the Drugs thread and folks got really funny style about it.

"Clubbing" is NOT NECESSARILY about getting wasted, getting your drug on, hooking up, trying to get numbers, etc. Not everyone is out to get blowed.

There are people who just WANT to vibe, period. It does get spiritual and you can get lifted by the music. Same with concerts. Nightlife is wayyyy more complex than some underaged suburban, bridge-and-tunnel muthafuckas wearing mall fashion and acting stupid at 2 a.m. And I'm feeling what MIGUELGOMEZ is saying because you can, in fact, club all night just off of a groove. If the DJs are about something. Househeads know that.

Ever heard of the Paradise Garage? All ages were there. There wasn't even alcohol served in that club and it is still, to this day, legendary.

If you look young, who cares?

I don't usually go out to clubs just to dance...I go to check out certain djs or club nights. I don't care what age the others are. I'm not there to try and make friends or watch what everyone else is doing.

AAAHHHHH!!!!! Yes.....you TOTALLY get it. OMG!

Paradise Garage and The Loft were during my time but I was on the damn wrong coast. I just saw an amazing documentary on those two clubs. Yes. I'm a househead. BUT I'm very picky about my house music. It has to be funky and soulful.

I'm sure you understand being out on the dance floor with friends and being brought to tears by the d.j. AND that's without the help of any substances.

I love you!!!

Heeheee!!! Yeah, there are other places where you can do that. I once took a guy home from Starbucks. How weird is that? Remind me to tell you all that story one day. Oh lawd!

If you go to the club and the music they are playing is:

1. Too Loud
2. You don't know the words
3. You don't know the words and still TRY to sing or rap it

You probably don't need to be there.....

You got to the club and...

There are nothing but hoodies and sneakers and you are wearing pants and suspenders (But still Fly!)

You probably don't need to be there....

I remember clubs in Cheltenham where you'd feel out of place at 18. lol

Here in Thailand I don't think it really matters, but then I don't really go to clubs but bars and pubs and out in the sticks karaoke places.

when the ladies are looking at you with that "pity" look...the one where they're looking at you like you've escaped from the psych ward when you ask them to dance....you know..."oh silly man, that's not how it works.... disbelief "

....or when a really young lady looks at you, cocks her eyebrow, and states unflinchingly that dancing with you would be like dancing with her dad.... eek

Depends on the place. Clubs tend to have a younger crowd, live music halls can have a wide range and then there are dive bars where I will die at 95.

talk to the hand I think it depends on the context. You have to pick an "age appropriate" club. I wouldn't go to a club where it was all 18-21 year olds and the dj was playing a bunch of music I didn't know/didn't like; but I can easily stay out 'til 4 or 5am partying/dancing if I feel like it. shrug

that's how i feel. i think there are enough clubs that cater to a crowd in my age group (and they even have shuffleboard and free shrimp cocktails!), or that have a good mix of different ages. i'd feel creepy in a club full of young'uns, but chances are it's not somewhere i'd enjoy anyway.

Same here. I can always find a club that caters to my crowd, where me and my hilarious hetero mates can go and feel up gay men for a few giggles. nod
