this house is a great place for cats. plenty of room, plenty of big windows, a whole basement where they can hide and skulk around and dig through crap without getting in trouble, an enclosed porch. chuck still doesn't quite know what to do with himself. touched

i assume it hasn't because you still communicate with the outside world, even if it's just via the internet at this point. but maybe Darin has gone full-on cat-lady crazy? he's not around here much anymore lol

Chuck's beautiful, but I have a question...

I've humored the idea of another cat, but how do you keep your old cat and the new one from killing each other? I know they eventually get used to sharing space, but in the meantime it can get pretty ugly, no?

That cat needs a good reprimand! lol Reminds me when I had Heiffer and Booty. Booty was about 2 months younger than Heiffer and she stalked him and pounced and attacked and I pulled her off him a hundred times and I told her that one day he was going to get bigger than her and I wouldn't step in to save her and that day did come and he kicked her ass and I let him for all the times she kicked his when he was smaller than her lol

i will answer this question, and then i must photowhore our new kitty some more.

chuck's been in the house two weeks as of tomorrow, and there have been some ugly moments but i think it all comes down to personality. there's been a lot of hissing and growling since chuck arrived, but there haven't really been any knock-down drag-outs. both of our other cats are too damn old (and in my cat grady's case, too damn FAT) to really put the smackdown on a kitty half their age. plus, chuck isn't hissing back. oh, he eggs them on, but i believe he thinks they're big hissy toys. when they start hissing at him, he usually lays down in front of them and stares at them as if to say, "oh really? do continue!" lol

but, to answer your question, if introducing a new cat to an existing pet gets really ugly, you could keep the new pet in your bedroom or in another room separate from your other cat, and kinda schedule some "getting to know you time" each day until the cats seem to at least tolerate each other a little bit. and if the new kitty wants to hide for a few days, let him hide. he'll come out when he's hungry or thirsty, and he'll eventually start sniffing around.

OKAY, PHOTOWHORE TIME:
