Letterman is certainly way better than Leno.

Leno just plain sucks. I never laugh at those tired monologues of his.

Conan is pretty funny at times. biggrin

Leno is for the audience that he inherited from Johnny Carson: baby boomers and other senior citizens who like their comedy nice, clean and neat. Whenever I've watched Leno I've seen Letterman's influence in some of the on location skits he does, unfortunately he doesn't have Dave's wit. I can't remember once that Leno made me laugh. The only reason Letterman's show is seen as not as funny anymore is because he was not allowed to bring some of his old shtick from NBC during his glory days; it's called intellectual property, and NBC was a bitch about it, thusly making his CBS show the worse for it - though still not as weak as Leno. I'll take Letterman's off the wall, edgy goofy comedy of his first decade on NBC - and his current show over Leno's trying too hard, safe brand of humor any day. Jay's show never brought anything unique to the table.

Which reminds me: those NBC reruns of Letterman's show are supposed to be aired soon.

I guess I'm going against the grain on this one, I still go with Leno.

Letterman was funny when he was on Late Nite on NBC... he's 2 bitter now.

Even Prince chooses Leno over Letterman! Prince was on Leno 2 nights in a row this last year, and even worked some practical jokes in on Leno. When Prince was on Letterman (during the Symbol days) he sang "Endorphine Machine" and ended the song in mock suicide, and was dragged off the stage by a band member, totally avoiding the Letterman interview.

lol

actually he did Dolphin on Letterman. And Dinner With Delores 2 years later.

and you'll note, that he was on Letterman twice, back when he still had some balls, some edge.

he's gone on Leno the last few times because he's a big ol' pussy and knows Leno is a suckup.

I stand corrected..did he ever do an interview though like on Leno..thats the test.

As if that means anything...plus Prince is too much of a pussy to go on Letterman. He knows Dave will tear his shit up and be sarcastic..." whats with the eyeliner at 43 Prince? hehe". Leno took over Aresenios' asskissing schtick.

Gimme a break, Letterman hasn't been brave since the 80's! He kissed Madonna's ass when she appeared and told him "don't fuck with me"...

If he talked 2 Prince, he would'a kissed his ass 2.

Well, I guess you missed tonights episode of Letterman..To look Warren Zevon in the face and ask him about his terminal desease...and to hold back the tears in his eyes as he thanked him for "everything"...thats pretty brave to me..

or to have him go on and "tell it like it is" about Sept 11th. In a away that far surpassed anything any politician had or has said to this date (republican or democract)...thats brave...

damn...i have been so busy i havent watched Letterman in a couple months...and low and behold i find myself laughing and crying during his interview with Warren...

*thats* why i prefer Letterman over Leno...

I completely agree with you. Arsenio used to make me gag with all the buttkissing and fawning he'd do over his guests.

My pick is Letterman, though I also agree with the others before me who said he's lost something since he moved over to CBS. I wish they still showed the "Late Night" reruns on A&E or E! or whatever channel it was that did that for awhile (but wow did Dave ever hate THAT! lol)

David Letterman.I miss his show on NBC.Leno is okay but I
enjoy Letterman's humor more.Kevin Eubanks is cool though,
and I like Headlines.

There was a TV movie about the late night wars when Johnny
was leaving and who was to take his place.Anyone seen that
movie? Kathy Bates played Jay Leno's producer or something
and she was very mean.Leno fired her and she went hysterical.

Letterman had really wanted The Tonight Show but in
my opinion he's done better with where he's at now.

I also enjoyed The Pat Sajak Show.Anyone remember
that?

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but he did Dolphin on Letterman, not Endorphinmachine! But anyway, I prefer Leno and Conan/Craig! smile

Yeah but his heart problems also has something to do with his demeanor now as well..and he still isnt as chummy as Leno would be. Plus Dave is scared of Madonna..he aint scared of Prince.

They all suck ass unless they have decent guests, & most of the time they don't. Conan makes me giggle sometimes, used to like Kilborn but that wore off quick. Leno blows, Letterman is okay. I would love it if little Johnny Stewart had a latenight show, I dig him on The Daily...

I used to watch the Daily Show all the time in college. I don't watch it much now, I think it just ran its course. Its gotten a little stale. Besides, I always watched it for the skits with the other co-hosts, there's nothing all that great about John Stewart, he's okay...

Ooh, u got me! biggrin

In my quick attempt 2 offer a 'clever' retort... I fucked myself! I've gotta stop drinking and typing! lol

Okay, busted. I flip thru on commercials from Leno. I notice Paul is still there, whiney as ever. I notice (according 2 guests) that the Ed Sullivan Theatre is still freezing cold. I notice that he still does the very tired top ten...and I've noticed he is practically bald.

But, gone is the sarcastic wit he used 2 insult guests right in their face. He's just another ass kissing middle aged man who wants a stadium or something named after him in Indiana.

Leno isn't perfect, but I prefer his comedy. The banter between Jay and Kevin is genuine and funny, where Dave and Paul's seems sometimes forced. Jay's formula has grown on me, and I'm comfortable with it.

Who knew this topic would turn in2 such a hate-fest of u either choose Letterman or u're a loser type mentality... I will like who I choose 2 like, whether or not it's the popular choice.

I is what I is... damn. I must b getting old.

By the way, Conan is my 2nd choice. I love that giant headed, red haired Irishman.

Leno, but Conan is my favorite!!! Conan has a corny funny feel to him. He's just stupid acting and not affraid to show it. I love his string dance  Have you ever noticed that Conan seems to not read cue cards well. That's what makes him great he'll just stop in the middle of reading it and say this is stupid.

Ah you're right again SkletonKee, maybe I'm just 2 sensitive regarding the big-chinned one.

lol

U know what's weird? He doesn't spend any of his money he earns from the Tonight Show? He lives off of his live comedy appearances from weekend gigs and hasn't changed his lifestyle at all, 'cept 4 the occasional classic car purchase. He never negotiates a higher rate when his contract comes up... he has this phobia of ending up as a broke janitor or something like that.

Strange fellow...

Leno got the Tonight Show gig in an underhanded way. his manager manipulated the media and NBC execs to get Jay the job. Dave stayed loyal to NBC, and they fucked him. maybe Jay's not taking a raise because he knows he doesn't even deserve that job...

I perfer Letterman and Biran over Leno.

But I think the Tonight Show is the most funniest.

The Dame Edna Show is too strange(the humor) for me to contemplate over.
