Tattoo Aftercare

Has anyone used this product?

http://www.tat2aftercare.com/

No major reason for asking...

...I met the founder and the person who developed the recipes tonight

...and wondered just how effective it was.

GREAT ingredients nod

I made my own salve much like this one for my ink job the only difference was I did not add Niaouli to mine

~~~
PRODUCT INGREDIENTS
Lavender
Lavender is nature's most versatile aromatic plant, renowned for its beauty and medicinal uses. When used in skin care products it’s soothing and healing qualities will help cuts, sores, burns, inflammation, acne, eczema, psoriasis, insect bites and stings.
Tea Tree
Skin preparations that contain effective but low concentrations of Tea Tree oil have a dual purpose. It provides valuable anti-bacterial, antiseptic and anti-fungal properties which make it an excellent topical oil to prevent infections. Tea Tree also has anaesthetic properties which can remove itch and irritation and soothe the pain which can accelerate the healing of small cuts, grazes and bruises. (less than 1%)
Niaouli
Niaouli is from the same family as Tea Tree. It also has antiseptic properties and is a major antibacterial agent especial in dermatological applications. Its therapeutic qualities provide relief from a variety of ailments including wounds, burns, insect bites, boils and spots.(less than 1%)
The blend of Lavender, Tea tree and Niaouli was chosen because the properties, of each oil, when combined with the others created a synergy that provides benefits to the skin greater than the qualities of each oil on its own.
This blend was then added to a mix of vegetable oils that nurture, moisturise and soften the skin.
Sunflower Oil
In skin care products, sunflower oil is one of the favourite softening emollients. It is rich in vitamins A, D, and especially in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sunflower oil has a light texture and is easily absorbed by skin.
Olive Oil (Extra Virgin)
Olive oil was the original beauty treatment. Its chemical free nature makes it suitable for those who have allergic reactions. Emollients containing olive oil are useful in treating dry and chapped skin. It is a good skin soother and a useful source of Vitamin E.
Calendula
Calendula’s gentle actions help reduce inflammation. It is used for wounds, muscle pain, acne, irritated skin and children’s skin. It is Compatible with all skin types.
Beeswax
Beeswax acts as an emulsifier and is nourishing to skin. It is a natural antibiotic. It soothes and softens the skin. Beeswax makes an ideal base for skin care creams, cuts, abrasions, chapped hands, wounds, eczema and psoriasis.
At the end extra Vitamin E was added.
I've just had my armpits tattooed and used alot of Baby oil 'GEL'.
With previous tattoos I've used Preparation H (heamorroid gel) and good old vaseline!!!!
The idea is too keep them moist and try to prevent to much scabbing, because if the scab comes off prematurely it will take the colour with it!
The idea of the healing creams is to aid healing 'without' an antiseptic or similar, because normal skin healing creams that contains antiseptics and that are designed to withdraw any alien antibodies from your skin will include tattoo ink!!!
All good tattoist should stock a range of healing creams, and should give you some as part of the service! Most do.
The best way to heal a tattoo is as follows:
Wash the tattoo with hot hot hot water and soap, as hot as you can bear it. This will open the pores and get out any germs and bacteria.
Then go over it with cold cold cold water to close the pores again.
Apply a TINY bit of a moisturizer that you prefer (I like aveeno products)...there should be NO excess of moisturizer on the tattoo, it keeps from healing quickly. Many people thing slathering the shit on will keep it from scabbing...not true.
Everyone has their method but I've been told by more than one tattoo artist to do it this way and it worked best for me. After two or three days the "cookies" would come right off in the shower. No scabs, no nothing. When I over moisturized I had trouble healing and scabbed, then the color would come out.
Tattoo after care is a lot of hoopla if you ask me. Everyone is trying to make a buck. Some might work great, don't get me wrong....but I find that the method above is cheap and very effective!
No no no and no!! A&D only for the first day right after the tattoo is completed. It clogs your pores!
I'm sorry I'm not trying to come off as a know it all I swear! I dated a tattoo artist for a long time and saw what A&D does to a tattoo!!!
