2 Year old beaten to death with video game controller. Our poor children.
Video http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=76063 YORK, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A 2-year-old girl died after being beaten with a video game controller by her mother's boyfriend, police said Tuesday.
Darisabel Baez died Monday. Her mother's boyfriend said he beat the 2-year-old but didn't explain why, police said. Darisabel Baez's mother overheard the beating Sunday but did nothing until she realized the girl was unconscious, police said. The girl was pronounced dead late Monday at Hershey Medical Center, police Lt. Ron Camacho said. Homicide was added to the list of charges against Harve L. Johnson on Tuesday; he was already in jail on counts including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. The girl's mother, Neida E. Baez, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. It was clear from the bruises and other injuries on the little girl's body that Sunday was not the first time she had been abused, Dauphin County coroner Graham Hetrick told WGAL-TV. He said it was one of the worst cases of child abuse he has ever seen. Baez, 19, called for an ambulance Sunday and said Johnson had brought the unconscious child to her, limp and wet from an attempt to revive her in a bathtub, a police affidavit said. Johnson, 26, acknowledged beating the girl with a video game controller but did not say why, police said. Baez said that Johnson had abused the girl in the past and that she heard the girl scream after Johnson beat her Sunday, according to the affidavit. Detective Dana Ward said Baez was charged because she did not intervene or try to get help for Darisabel. Johnson and Baez remained in custody Tuesday. His bail was set at $200,000; hers was $25,000. Through police, family members declined requests for interviews Tuesday. Court officials said they did not know whether Johnson and Baez had lawyers to speak for them. Quite sad indeed.

This is very sad. It actually makes me sick.
On a slightly different subject, has anyone seen the movie Gone Baby, Gone? I really enjoyed it and it made me think very seriously about whether children are always better off with their biological parent(s) or not.

Yes, I thought so too. I don't want to give too much away, but it broke my heart when he ended up babysitting at the end. You could tell he was wondering about this choice.

Horrific. What angers me is women that allow their children to be abused by sick ass men, and aware they are doing it. She better serve a long time in jail as well as the monster that killed her child. Some people have some *&O() up priorities. [Edited 4/9/08 11:54am]

First thing comes to mind, burning at the stake. Wrong I know, but heck something is so far wrong with such people that is it really worth the time to try and fix them.

Well, I took a peek into GD, and saw that all the main topics were fluff, and knew it would get lost quickly. I guess the mods can move it if they want. It's not politics or religion, but it sure is a testament to how screwed up our society is. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I read this and started crying. I will never understand how people can be so cruel to one another, so awful to each other, so disconnected from the pain they cause each other. That poor little girl, such a short time here on earth and she experienced so much pain in her life (since they said this wasn't the first time she'd been beaten). The sad thing is, to her it was normal, this was what life was to her. Can you imagine going through life and believing that life is getting beat up, getting hit, that it is pain only? Can you imagine going to bed knowing that tomorrow will probably be just more of the same? And even in sharing the story, some of the comments are so disconnected from what this little girl went through. How can we claim to be civilized when we can't even treat each other in a civilized manner?

I understand being fearful of your boyfriend husband but when something like this happens it is the battle to the death at that point, preferrably him 6 feet under. I just can't believe how horribly little babies are treated. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Disgusting.
I hate to say it, but this child is probably better off. It probably would have taken a long time for police to find out she was being abused routinely and then there's the possibility of her getting caught in the system. Poor little angel

A straight up end. It seems that EVERY week there's a story of some single mother who allows her child to beaten by a boyfriend. My mother raised me by herself and would have NEVER allowed some shit like this to happen to me.
