Wouldn't surprise me if his lawyers have already sent the producers a cease-and-desist. lol

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I saw the History Channel special about the MIT students which the movie is based on. They made a huge killing for about six months in casinos from Las Vegas to Atlantic City to Monte Carlo before the casinos caught on to their game and banned them. But the funny part about that was that they said that they made about $4 million in casino winnings before they shut down their operations, yet years later some of these individuals formed some of the first dot-com computer companies which they later sold for hundreds of millions of dollars. So they really didn't need to gamble in the first place.

Actually, I had no idea there was a Jason Statham movie out. My friend Todd and I went to the movies with the intent to see 21 and he told me it had horrible reviews so while we were in line, we saw a movie called The Bank Job was playing. I was like "What the hell is The Bank Job"? Todd pointed to a poster and I all I saw what Jason's face. That was all I needed. No need to know plot or storyline. lol

I've read a lot about it (not the book though) and they did a special on the History Channel that I caught but I have not seen this yet.

I'm cautious when a movie gets panned with statements like;

"A light-weight teen romantic comedy [dressed up as a gambling movie and] filled with nothing but one-dimensional characters. "

or

"This is a really stupid movie about such smart people... When they make references to Ferris Bueller and Swingers, it just feels desperate. "

From your local paper;

"A lot of attractive people standing in for real-life nerds, and a plot that knows all the clichés and isn't afraid to use them."

This was the deal breaker;

"starts out strong, with an attractive cast and an intriguing premise, but ultimately looses its way due to silly subplots and a muddled ending."

It's just for the $20 - $30 I spend to see a movie, I do a little investigating and asking...thanks for your twocents

I will agree with that comment. I can see your point about asking around before speding the $ to go! I would have waited to rent the DVD myself. I went because that is what the girls wanted to do for our girls day. I am not much into going to the movies myself
