Cheerleader beating for video footage Allegedly, of course. The mugshots of the eight teens who have been charged with felony battery are now online. The victim's dad still refuses to look at the taped beating. "As far as I am concerned, MySpace is the anti-Christ for children," he says. "I hope this comes to a final resolution. I am not going to stop here."

this is soo sad Oh...unfortunately teens in mugshots is not an uncommon occurence here in the US. It is sad. For all of them. Of course for the victim, but even for the suspects. You have to wonder what on earth led them to make the decision to do something like this. What happened to them in their life to make them think this type of behavior is OK?

shit similar to this happened all the time when I was in high school and it didn't make the news.
Is the news media trying to make a case for the need of big brother watching everyone?

This is horrible. It makes me want go out and beat them myself. I know that's not the answer but that's my first reaction. I very much think our youth have been desensitized to violence and therefore things like this seem like no big deal. Of course not all kids and not every situation. But, with TV showing more and more violence, video games becoming more violent, and easy almost unrestricted access to the internet I think kids now a days see more than kids of my parent's generation or even mine.

Is the news media trying to make a case for the need of big brother watching everyone? It didn't make the news because the people who did the assaults didn't have youtube and myspace to post their beatings to brag about how awesome they are. Not only are they totally pathetic, they are fucking stupid since they have now provided evidence against them.

That and I look at it as the media showing shit like this as some kind of entertainment. It's never about the real issues...it's always about shock value.
