Your favorite OLD SCHOOL arcade games

They don't make them like they used to.

Tempest
Dig Dug
Centipede

There are many more of course, but these I enjoyed the most.

Phoenix was cool in some ways...really there were a whole lot of Space Invaders clones beyond, Galaxian, Galaga, Phoenix, Moon Cresta...but Phoenix had Beethoven music in the background! smile

Does anyone remember a game called
"Wizards of Wor"?
My buddy and i were hooked on that game
for a long time.
The game was a shooting game, played in
a maze. 2 players could position themselves
back-to-back and kill off all the monsters.
Then the screen would go crazy and you had
to kill the Warlock that would appear and disappear.
Cool game, i miss it.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Galaga
Q-Bert
Defender

can you buy these for your home? Stand up versions. Now that I am an adult I could have one in my home. Are they more expensive or less expensive than free standing arcade games produced today? Are they antique and collectable or old school junk that nobody wants?

tell me more!

Way back, there was this table-top game of football. It was a black-and-white game, one of the oldest, where the players were just X's and O's and you moved your X or O with a track-ball. I can't remember what it was called, but it was cool...

Let's not forget the old Star Wars arcade game where you got to shoot tie-fighters and blow up the Death Star...don't see too many vector-graphics based games anymore.

Funny thing--they made a prototype game for Empire Strikes Back, which was supposed to take place on Hoth, battling the AT-AT walkers...but then the "Great Video Game Crash of 1983" happened and the game was canned. You can still check it out though, thanks to the MAME emulator!

They DID actually make that game...I know cuz I played it. It was a 'conversion kit' for the Star Wars game, and it added AT ATs to shoot at and stuff. They also made one based on Return of the Jedi, but it was not so great.
