Have you ever watched boxing, a martial arts or action film, or any violent real life clips? It's pretty much the same thing.

Personally, dog fighting rolleyes is not something I'd be into, but it's pretty common, and legal, elsewhere. I don't see the big deal as long as it's something people control so you don't have Cujos running around attacking kids.

I mean when did law enforcement start to truly care about this? Oh right, when they wanted to bust Vick. lol When did America start to care about this, oh wait, they don't it's just an excuse.
To be fair, there have been many arrests for dog fighting in Chicago before I even heard of Michael Vick.

nod ...my next door neighbor got arrested for having pit bull fights in his garage. A lot of it in Chicago.

I hate hunting for sport. I only eat fish/shrimp/oysters. I try to be a vegan, but I love seafood too much. I hate to see two men boxing the shit out of each other. I think it's stupid. This is how I feel about diamonds...I won't wear them, even if they lie and say they aren't "conflict."

I think Martha Stewart is a crook and should still be in jail. I wish I would buy one of her damned pink striped sheets. I do think an example was made of Vick. I do not get that it is ok to go out with a bunch of drunk friends with guns and shoot whatever runs past you just to take a pic with it, and yet go to jail for dog-fighting. confuse

But, ya know...lots of things seemingly sane people do seem to confuse me lately.

Vick made a mistake and as a result was used as an "example"...in my opinion...
folks have gotten off easier for doing worse things to people...just a few years ago, one of the biggest dogfighting rings in Georgia was busted right here in the county I live in...over 50 arrests, dozens of dead dogs found, lots of money trading hands...not one person that could post bond spent any extended time in jail...all convicted were given probation...law enforcement doesn't give a shit about dogfighting, they give a shit about who is dogfighting...
that being said, I hope Vick comes back...keeps his nose clean, doesn't fuck up anymore and does his thing...

I agree.

Cruel and inhumane and completely unnecessary treatment of any living thing is wrong. That goes for dog fighting, sport hunting, inhumane slaughter houses, Africans in the diamond trade, all the shit you guys touched on in this thread and tons more. It's all unacceptable and it all needs to be challenged.

Don't shit on one person who chooses to voice their anger about one thing and say they don't care about other issues...and you don't dismiss one because somewhere, somewhere else you feel something worse is happening. It all should be addressed and an outcry for all of it should be heard nice and loud.

As for this dude. I don't give a shit what he's doing in jail or what he does when he gets out...just as long as he doesn't break the law again, I don't care what he does.

Martha Stewart wasn't putting innocent animals in harms way. What he did was disgusting. How can you even justify that shit? Fucking pathetic.

And yet people kill deer for JUST the sport of it every year and absolutely nothing happens to them. hmmm

True. It's funny how PETA doesn't want to mess with NRA members who hunt.Ironically, most of the membership is in the states where cock & dog fights take place.

I don't eat beef.

But even if I did, animals eat other animals. There is nothing wrong with that. The issue of meat eating has nothing to do with unnecessary cruelty and inhumane treatment. Torturing an animal, making it suffer and suffer, killing for sport, etc is not the same as killing an animal quickly to use it as a source of nourishment.

But hey, many people use the whole "you eat animals" argument to try and justify the abuse of animals all the time. It's because they have no idea what else to say and they are grasping at straws. That argument really holds no validity at all.

And, in fact, when people use the defense that animals in slaughter houses are treated poorly it just solidifies everything that I said...that changes need to be made and we all need to start addressing all of it...now.

So ya, actually...thanks for making my point even more clear. thumbs up!

Out of all of the animals raised in this country for slaughter, about how much of that meat do we actually eat? How much of it do we actually need?

Synthetic material. I'm really big on not using animals when there are man made alternatives as an option.

It is all about profit... the beef, dairy, fur, diamond, drug, fishing, etc, industries are all about $$$$ , no accountability for lives lost or abused.

Mr. Vic got caught up in trying to make a small profit for his boys and himself the wrong way. Call your broker next time Vic, you dumb ass. Its not about the animals its about the money... like I said before , and I'll say it again, if we don't even care enough about our own species to not have our children all up in sweat shops and slaving in mines in so-called third worlds, then why should we be surprised about some animals being mistreated or even killed?

It is ass backwards to put animals before any person... we will learn to stop abusing animals when we learn first to stop abusing people.

and Dance the beef industry wants you to not just fill your stomach with their product, but the fridge and a deep freezer too. More profits for them.... they'll just breed more.

The thing is, though, that dogs and cats have been bred for thousands of years as human companion animals, this has (scientifically) left imprints on them that wild and farm stock animals don't have.

we shouldn't make the dogs fight or eat them cuz you think they're kYooooot
