Paulus And The Acornmen Scans! For Your Pleasure!

Here are a few scans from one of my favourite children books; Paulus and the Acornmen by Jean Dulieu. This amazing tale of leprechaun Paulus that becomes king of The Acornmen and their adventures had me pining for another page each evening, when my father was still alive. So good memories.

The scans are from my own book and as it has become somewhat of a collector's item, I could not fold over the pages to make a total scan of the entire page, so a right or left part of the page is missing.

But still, pretty good and enjoyable. The great part, besides the exciting adventures of Paulus and the acornmen, are of course the variety of techniques used in the book. Sketches, black and white work, drawings, water colour paintings combined with drawings; to me, as a child, it was a treasure trove. Loved it lots and still do.

Hope you enjoy!

Paulus is of course a leprechaun and he is realy tiny, but he was HUGE in Holland in the 60's.

He had an own cartoon in the newspaper, an animated series and books. The book I lifted these from is his most famed book.

As a child, I loved how stupid the acornmen are. They get in alot of trouble and Paulus tries to help, but they are too stupid, hehehe.

I love page 40; it is so beautiful. And the mouse on page 126 is amazingly beautiful.
