Should you bring your spouse to your Class Reunion?

I think this is a valid question. Should you bring your spouse/ significant other to your class reunion? I say NO. All it will do is cause drama. Plus if your spouse/ signif didn't go to high school with you they wouldn't know anybody. It would just slow you down. The reunion should be about YOU reconnecting with old friends. Not about your spouse getting up in your past.

What does the org think about this issue? I agree that everyone should go to their reunion Solo. Your partner should be able to trust you. I think everyone should also let their partner go to their reunion solo as well.

I think it is similar to Guys/ Girls night Out. Everybody deserves time off to be with their friends.

i wouldn't bring my SELF to a class reunion, let alone subject my spouse to such hellishness. disbelief

i would open the invitation to your spouse and let them know that at best, you're going to be spending a lot of time walking down memory lane with a bunch of people they don't know, telling a lot of stories that have nothing to do with them. if that kinda thing turns your spouse on, then maybe it would be cool. the worst thing is to be stuck in a place full of people you don't know, being the odd person out. some people don't mind that, though. shrug

lol At Gray's comment.

Yes if you want to show her off and she's great fun at parties. No if she's insecure and will nag you all night.

If you want to go solo, then just go solo. smile

I'd offer (to avoid argument) but strongly suggest they will not have fun and you don't care if he/she stays home.

I agree

The only reason I would even THINK of going is if my spouse wanted to really go and was encouraging us to go ( thank santa that won't happen ! )

It's not on my list of things I want to do ever

period

on the other hand, if you attend the class reunion and realize you've made a huge, horrible mistake in showing up, at least you have someone with you to talk to until you can figure out how to make your escape. shrug

Personally I'd just leave if it sucked.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few people I went to high school with. I've seen their pics on facebook. It would be funny to see how bad they went to shit in terms of looks in person. biggrin

Part of me sorta wants to go. However I went to a catholic HS...not sure how they would take to my partner. Not sure if I'd even bring that part up either. Then again, I didn't have a lot of friends anyways and my favorite teachers are long gone too.

Class reunions are cool but leave the spouse at the CRIB.

i saw some recent pics of people i went to high school with on classmates.com, and it just confirmed the fact that i do NOT need to be going to a reunion. i mean, sure, it might be funny to see how bad some of the popular kids went to hell in their later years, but i'm talking some gummo-style shit here. pictures i wish i'd never seen, yet are engraved in my memory forever. trailers. tire swings. oakley sunglasses. i can't talk about this anymore. lol

If your spouse is the kinda person that would enjoy that kinda thing, then have at it. If they're not, then let then go do their own thing that night. shrug
I've heard of having "family" days at a reunion, to meet spouses and children and catch up with each other's lives.

i guess if you're a real people person or if your peak was in high school or you just want to see how all the cool kids became losers then you should go.

I just see them as totally undesirable. the people from my past who i want in my life are already in it. No need to see the rest.

Oh, believe me - I didn't. I had a pretty difficult high school experience, in fact. I got over it.

I just can't understand why anyone who goes to a class reunion must (in your mind) have some sort of defect. rolleyes

Actually...one of my favorite things about going to a class reunion is seeing all the guys who were mean to me with paunches and no hair. lol

being a people person is not a defect at all, in fact it's an asset. One that I don't have. lol

peaking in high school or wanting to see how badly certain people have aged aren't defects either, really.

I just don't understand why you think something is wrong with me for not wanting to go. There have been others on this thread who have expressed the same opinons as me. In fat, my initial post wasn't even really directed at you, I was answering JustErin. Let it go, girl! (or guy, as the case may be)

You need to chill. People are different. It's what makes the world a beautiful place. nod

To me, it all depends on the people in your class. Some people's classes are pretty cool. Some are full of a$$holes.

I went to my last reunion and really enjoyed it. It was so good to see the people that thought they were da-shiznet in school...now they have 10 kids and are on welfare.

As for bringing your spouse, it all depends on the spouse. If your spouse has a real personality...then they might enjoy it. If your spouse is not outgoing, they will be bored out of their mind....especially if you and your spouse don't know a lot of the same people.
