The Masters Although I don't play much golf anymore, I still follow the Masters with a passion.
Tiger Woods just got up and down for par on 17 and is even for the day. As far as I'm concerned, the tournament is Tiger's to lose. If he finishes at even or better, it'll be his best first round in many years. He owns the second, third and fourth rounds. I have a flag that flew over one of the holes in 1997, when Tiger won his first Masters. He signed it. It's one of my prized possessions. I got to go to the Masters in 1983. That year, the third round was rained out and they moved everything back a day. I was in Atlanta that weekend, so I drove down to Augusta on Monday. The crowds were way smaller than normal. Tom Watson and Seve Ballesteros were the third-round leaders. I was able to walk with them all the way through 13. After that, I sat down just outside the front bunker on 18 and watched everyone come in. What a day! At the time, I had NO idea how lucky I was. | |
