Here is a tip for Men and Marriage!

Since marriage is supposed to be about "love", get your girlfriend a cubic zirconia ring instead of a diamond and save your self some cash! If she finds out that it is fake, that means she went out and got it appraised which means your marriage is about a rock and not love. If she finds out and makes a stink about it, you obviously are marrying the wrong chick who is in it for anything but love. If love were the issue, then it wouldn't matter what you gave her to signify your commitment. Your commitment is action, not an object nod

Good luck guys! biggrin

Even though I start posts with "I think" or "some", people think I'm making generalizations. lol

I'm highly opinionated so..... lol

This is my lesson to learn. I post something and all of a sudden I am accused of making that situation about an entire nation of people! I'm opinionated too and you'd think after 10 years people would know me by now lol

MY OPINION is I don't need or want a ring. I couldn't justify spending all that money.

Or how about they tell her it's a cubic zirconia when they give it? Why not be honest up front? I'd be pissed if someone lied to me about something, even something as "small" as that.

I'd happily take any ring my intended wanted to give me. I think most women would too.

That's basically the answer I got.

I like the ceremony. I like the old fashion traditions because well, I'd like to experience it. I don't want to end up looking like I'm a cheap bastard boxed

What would the marriage rate be then?! .04%!!! lol I really do have an issue with female entitlement when it comes to the ring. I think it should be earned nod

Not legal yet.

But it will change eventually. Younger Americans just trend towards liberalism now. I don't think conservatives will stem that tide in time to stop the changing social attitudes. You can see it everywhere in Youth culture. It's not to say bigotry and hatred don't exist--they do in spades--but the trend is always towards more tolerance when it comes to the youth. Plus urban cities grow larger, and the larger they get, the more tolerant they get.

I believe it's only a matter of time....before I can tap his ass consistently.

It's not weird though! Expecting something just for the sake of having a vagina is weird! lol Just like expecting a position simply because you have a penis is weird. And I know you aren't used to see me bat for team boy but perhaps if marriage were a legitimate venture for me I'd take it mroe seriously. Until then, my hang-ups will prevail woot!

i think it's kind of a silly, impratical gesture. "i want to build a home and a life together and we're going to be partners in creating a family and giving our children the best upbringing we can manage. oh, and here's a $10,000 diamond ring that we'll be paying for over the next seven years." wacky

something symbolic and precious is fine, but it doesn't have to be about the bling. an heirloom or something with personal meaning would be just as valuable.

And this is my point! Most women will NOT BE HAPPY unless they get that fucking ring and everything and everyone be damned, including her own financial wellbeing! Many guys cannot afford the ring of a girls dreams but they make it happen because the girl won't have any part of it otherwise.

I am RIGHT on this and I know it! lol

I'd make a stink about it if he gave me zirconia but passed it off as a diamond because he would be LYING.
