Yes, people with NO opinions are annoying. I'm a very strongly opinionated person, and I usually am pretty upfront about my beliefs. I can deal with people who have differing opinions, but I can't stand people who have no opinions about stuff.

Oh, a great example would be...

"What kind of music do you listen to?"

"Funk, soul & fusion jazz. You?"

"Well, you know, I have no favorites. I listen to just about everything"

Buuuullshit. Anyone who says they 'listen to all kinds of music' is usually a person who just listen to the top 20 bullshit that's on the radio lol

It irritates me as much as anything when people are afraid of saying what they want when you're trying to make plans, especially ones on spur of the moment, and you're actually in the car on your way to do something. They're too shy to say what they want to do, if anything, so "I don't know" and "I don't care" gets to be annoying.

NOW... I've done this. But when I say "I don't know" or "I don't care" it's because I truly don't. I'm pretty easy as far as plans go. But you can tell when someone is doing it because they truly don't care or if they're just too shy to say.

Sorry, this came up over the weekend, so I'm putting it here. Close enough fit, I guess.

i listen to all kinds of music.

you're not gonna find a lot of today's top 20 bullshit in my music collection. lol

the only people who irritate me more are those with inflexible opinions...no matter how many ways you prove them wrong, they still won't at least acknowledge that their logic may be flawed....

Which I find more often than not on message boards. It seems to me that people are more flexible and receptive to differing opinions when dialoguing face to face as opposed to behind a computer. I find that people are more interested in being 'right' than in an honest exchange.

To that end, the org (GD, in particular) kind of lends itself to craziness and some people may come here just for that. That's okay too.

Hmm, now I'm pondering whether people with many opinions annoy me more than those with no opinions. Yes, they do. There are far more people in the my world whom are far too opinionated than those not.

I've often thought my wife was not a deep thinker but then a friend pointed out that some of us see in shades of grey and others in black and white. For my wife life is simpler as there is no confusion. It either is, or it isn't.

Perhaps the cleverest of us tend to keep opinions to ourselves until a matter is deemed important enough to put them forth.

As for having no opinion and idle talk? Well, how are they linked? Are you just annoyed by people who don't tick over the same way as yourself? If their brain is wired in such a way that they don't think on a higher/different plane should they be despised? Should we treat it as a disability and therefore condemn all those less able?

I think we should. Fucking retards.

I think what irritates me is not so much people who actually have no opinion, but people who do have strong opinions yet are so afraid of what others think, or afraid they won't be liked anymore, they won't say anything.

At the other end of the spectrum are those who just make up controversial opinions, passing them off as their own, just to stir up shit for no other reason than to make people angry.

I have plenty of opinions (I can give you considered one on pretty much anything). But sometimes, I choose not to share my opinion because I don't care to give people whose opinion I couldn't give two shits about an excuse to tee off on me.

In fact, even with people I trust and who I know will engage in a fair discussion, I often keep my feelings to myself because I'm tired and just don't want to get into it.

If you ever find yourself in conversation with me and hear a lot of, "Mmm-hmm. Of course. Interesting," you'll know you're one or the other. lol

It's a catch 22. For the most part I'm very outspoken and will give my opinion no matter who likes it or not. But I did get myself into trouble a few times and I've learned to just say nothing when need be.

I guess it depends on the company I'm with. I'm finding that people are uber sensitive these days neutral

You may not have said it but we all know you were thinking it wink And if you say otherwise I'll deal with you the same way I deal with most people's differing opinions: I'll put my fingers in my ears and say loudly "I can't hear what you're saying, I can't hear you, la la la..."

Ok, I admit. I hate them. I think they are mentally disabled and I believe that they need to be shipped off to some remote island where they can all sit there and say nothing to each other.

when i'm at work, people who think i'm entitled to their opinions irritate me. i don't enjoy talking about P&R-style crap at the workplace, though i think i must be a relic or an endangered species or something, because everyone seems to assume that just because i work with them, i want to know all about their views on abortion. i come from a world where you reach a certain comfort levels with people before you start launching into that kind of mess. then again, i come from a world where women wear prayer bonnets and aren't allowed to shave their facial hair. shrug

I might be considered to be one of those people, at least when it comes to my presence on the Org. I certainly haven't made any bold and strongly opinionated statements, or if I have I've forgotten about it. But I DO have strong opinions on certain political matters, only problem is there is no point for me to discuss them in P&R as those views deal mostly with local issues so anyone who hasn't lived in Iceland for at least a year (=everyone else) would be bored to tears. lol

You've got a point there. There are some issues that are MAJOR issues in America that are non-issues over here or there is a wide consensus about the issue.... A few examples? Abortion (one of the first countries to make it legal), Gay rights (one of the most progressive legislation in the world), Affirmative action (doesn't apply), race wars (there's no category for race at the Census Bureau here).... BUT there are many other issues Icelanders love to argue about, like fuel prices, joining the European Union or not, interest rates, Bubbi's (remember him? lol ) rants about other musicians, the Eurovision contest, bare female breasts in swimming pools.....

you don't fuck with bubbi. lol

we gripe about fuel prices here in the states too, obviously, but it's kind of a boring thing to espouse an opinion about because we all pretty much agree that we're getting screwed. it's not a very controversial topic.

there should be more discussion of boobs in swimming pools over here. i would love to see it discussed on 'meet the press'.

Well in Britain we really have a founded gripe about fuel. It's £1.09 a litre at the moment (that's $8.17 a gallon). It costs £50 ($100) to top-up my 1.4 Peugeot 206.

Gay Rights in Britain? I guess like everywhere in the world it really depends on where you live in a country and even which part of a city in some cases. Where I work I think there is one guy who may be gay but he sure hasn't spoken about it or displayed it. Not sure if anyone would have the balls too. I live in a country town/city and although I do know of one out gay guy that's it. When I lived in Plymouth I knew a couple but that's it. I know Hereford (where I live) doesn't have a gay club or anything. Brighton and London do. I guess places like Birmingham, Manchester and the like do also. They're big cities.

And race? Well if you're talking about black people well I don't work with any. Hold on, yes I do. We have an Indian (I think) team leader. Apart from that I know (but not well) three other coloured guys. Hereford's not really a coloured city. However we do have a staggering amount of Easter Europeans which is getting everyone's backs up. I mean the supermarkets have aisles written in bloody Polish! Not being funny or anything but when I go on holiday the least I do is learn a few phrases of the country I'm visiting! I guess it's not there fault for wanting to leave the homeland if it's crap but sinking ships and all that. I blame our useless effin government for not taking control and limiting the immigration into this country.

The biggest gripe I have with Britain is the bloody Welfare state. Unemployment Benefit should be payed out for three months and then stopped. Council Housing should be available but more effort should be made to get people to buy their own homes. When you have a mortgage to pay it makes you a lot more likely to stay in work. Losing ones home is something the slackers in this country never ever worry about. Why should I pay nearly £1000 in taxes each month to fund someone who can't be bothered to work?

Joining the EU? Eurovision Song Contest? Well let me tell you about the Song Contest. Only England (and now a couple of other countries) realise that it is a huge political joke. We have done for years. A lot of the country tune in to hear the results as our commentator just takes the piss all the way through. I mean when we followed the US into Iraq/Afghanistan we received Nil Points from everyone (maybe a couple from those feeling sorry for us). It was a complete joke. Ok so the song was shit but does Europe really expect our top musicians to put their name to such a show? So now we all sit back and watch the Baltic states vote for each other because they're neighbours. And then they get the chance to host it on a huge budget that is about as much as the typical British family spends on a big-shop. Firework Spectacular from Asda thankyou very much.

Something else that pisses me off. Supermarkets. Buy two get one free. I only want one! Why not just give me some money off that!? And why do they always ask me if I'm ok with my packing when I've got about twelve bloody items!? Funny that when my trolley is full nobody turns up for ages. And when they do they have no idea how to pack a pair of socks let alone separating glass from tins and tins from tomatoes! Nobheads.

Opinions? Full of 'em mate!

And the music channels on Sky! Videos nowadays are disgusting! Great but disgusting! I blame the US for this one (sorry). I mean I was watching one the other day (several actually) and all I could think was "If you're gonna go this far you may aswell just pop your boobs out and start fucking each other." It's porn without the sex! What's the bloody point in having cake and then not being able to eat it? And then on Dave (some crap station) they had a workout vid with some Page 3 tart with enormous boobs (it was great!) getting sweaty by doing stretches and having the camera man focus on all the arse, clam and cleavage shots! Am I seriously expected to whack-off to a fitness video?

And while I'm at it, someone teach that dog Gwen Steffani how to dance! What was it Peter Kay said on Jonathan Ross when asked how he'd liked sitting next to her before coming on? Oh yeah, "I was sat next to a woman? Could've fooled me!"

Sorry Gwen. You do have a nice bum though wink
