4 Killed in Shooting at Arizona Nursing School
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 7:09 p.m. ET

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A student flunking out of the University of Arizona nursing school shot three of his professors to death Monday, then killed himself as dozens of terrified students rushed to get away.

Police said Robert Flores Jr., 41, specifically targeted the instructors, killing one in her office on the second floor and shooting the others in a fourth-floor classroom as students dove for cover.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!!! When did it become standard procedure to SHOOT your professors/classmates? This epidemic may have began at Columbine, but it shows no sign of stopping..

What is the answer? Better parenting? Gun control? Anger management? I saw a great Politically Incorrect episode on this (after the Columbine massacre) regarding young boys and their role in american culture. Any thoughts on what is causing this and how to stop it?

Thank God he killed himself, at least Justice was carried out. Spares everyone the drama of having to go through a fruitless trial.

This is very different than a Columbine type shooting. I doubt that this guy was dealing with the type of taunting and ridicule as young school kids who have shot up their schools, this sounds more like someone's inability to handle personal failure.

One way to help alleviate the school shootings by younger kids is for parents to teach their kids that it's not right to bully and mercilessly make fun of others. Also teachers and schools can take a more active role when teasing, taunting or bullying occurs. I was bullied relentlessly as a child and certainly understand why these kids go crazy. I was very meek and not the type to bring a gun to school but that doesn't mean that I didn't wish death upon those who tortured me day in and day out.

Something seriously wrong is going on.All people do now is use guns to solve their problems. It's like the life of another just doesn't mean shit. It's like there is a spiritual hole that isn't getting filled and all the evil is leaking out of everyone.

Interesting point.. I do think this has something to do with it. As well as being desensitized to violence (via the media coverage, movies, TV) - this is not BLAMING those mediums, just trying to explain the desensitizing and distancing from violence. It's like people don't realize that when they shoot someone, it's REAL.. with real consequences.. or maybe they are just plain crazy. I don't know, but I wish it would stop. sad

We all live in this world that is saturated with depictions of violence but I know for a fact that this will never make me just pick up a gun and go nuts. Is it going to make any of you do the same? The answer is simple...This guy was crazy.

yet when you have a President of the most important nation rationalizing murder...in the name of revenge...doesnt that aid the simpletons own warped rational ?

thats the first thing I thought of when President Bush waived his fist and declared that we would get revenge for Sept 11th and that Bin Laden was a wanted man.."dead or alive"...

YES!!! From Kindergarten to the damn day I graduated I was bullied, teased, called names, threatened and all kinds of wonderful experiences took place. let me give you an example:

I was in the 8th grade and going into highschool I weighed a whopping 65 pounds. I was tiny. I wasn't sports minded and didn't want to play them but was forced to play because you HAVE to take P.E. So one day we were to play flag football. During the game I just ran back and forth and tried acting like I was at least trying to play. Just trying to blend in, even though I stuck out like a sore thumb on the field.

During the game the ball was being thrown back and forth and guys would run and pull on the flag, well you know how flag football works. So here comes the ball right at me and I catch it and run. I was TACKLED by 3 guys. At no point in the game was there any tackling but when the small faggot gets the ball it's time to play smear the queer right? As if it wasn't bad enough getting my 65 pound little body tackled by boys over twice my size, one of the boys picked me up from the ground (I was laying on my stomach) by wrapping his arms around my stomach and pulling me up and then simulating the act of fucking then he threw me on the ground while the other boys just laughed and laughed.

I stayed behind as the bell rang and I walked alone crying on my way to the locker room totally humilliated and embarrassed. When I got to the locker room my shirt was hanging out of my locker. One of the boys got their finger in the slat of my locker and pulled on my shirt till it was just shreds.

How's that for the lovely way boys treated me growing up? I have a million stories just as horrible. It's an absolute miracle that I came through my horror of a childhood with such a loving and happy outlook on life.

That's funny because i grew up around a bunch of "thugs" and yet i hung around the people they terrorised.Although alot of my friends were the outcast and geeks i could still hang with the "in crowd" whenever i wanted to.I always have some affection for the underdog.

C'mon BAD been in and out of battle like an eel through seaweed, but to take out my frustrations on inocent
bystanders, or people doing their jobs is just sick shit.
i may be playing the court game in my thread, but don't think for one minit that BAD condones this kind of senseless violence that's been pleaguing our nation for
many years now...
that kid who shot up ten people yeasterday and now this
says infaticly that there must be some control put on the weapons of distruction post haste.
the downside to such a thing is that when we as citizens
cannot arm ourselves, that leaves only the powers that be with weapons, and i'm sure you see where a guy like me may not like them odds.
RAMPART & OAKLAND POLICE DEPT. nuff said.
as far as parental guidence, i did damage to that concept all my life, and as yet to make the papers for any of the kind of shit that's goin on these days.
I AM King BAD a.k.a. BAD,
YOU EITHER WANNA BE ME, OR BE JUST LIKE ME

sad... but do we need to go so far as to say "school shooting?" this isn't exactly the kind of thing that phrase conjures in the mind.

yes, techinically. but it wasn't at a grade school, grammar school, or high school, which is what the term "school shooting" is usually used in conjunction with.

This is why I rarely listen to the news anymore.

Where is our humanity? Does life mean nothing anymore?
