I am going to see a Dutch version of Millennium Approaches AND Perestroika, better known as Angels In America this afternoon and tonight. Two times two and a ½ hours!

What have I gotten myself into. The down parts are of course the time and the fact it is translated. I do not like English to Dutch translations.

Great stuff is that it combines a few of my fave Dutch stage actors in one play and even though it is translated, it is a play by Tony Kushner.

I enjoyed the Angels in America series.

I can't wait. It starts at 16:00 and ends at 21:00...

I was really lucky and saw both those plays on Broadway in the early '90s. Tony Kushner did a brilliant job. I was amazed by them both and was left in awe, especially after Millennium Approaches. The HBO adaptation was very well done; some of the things they changed were unfortunate, but still incredible. And Meryl Streep...

I saw the plays when I was in high school and loved them.

Haven't seen the play but saw the HBO version awhile back and actually bought it on DVD not too long ago.

I am SO in awe of what Toneelgroep Amsterdam did; they performed an almost perfect play; almost all the actors were on one leve; almost genius.

Even though the horrific death scenes in Perestroika were a bit too confronting for me and hit too close to home, I loved, loved, loved Millenium Approaches.

And now I need sleep. Cuz we ended up drinking too much beers with some of the actors and their extended family and I might have a bit too much...
