I saw that. I was disturbed and intrigued at the same time.

Good movie until the end. It turned into Pretty Woman

fun movie, although I wish it was a bit more bizarre....

Aw hell, it's Hollywood. In some abstract Japanese film following through on the deprivation experience could sell, but I guess for the US market they had to put a "safe" closure on it

The end was a bit silly. I think it would have been better without the stupid news coverage. and I think it would have been enough if he'd come to get her after the boyfriend left. If it weren't for those two things, it would have been perfect.

Another thing I was thinking was that David Lynch would have used entirely different music to create more tension in the story (tension, after all, being an important component in the BDSM experience) . Do you remember the music in this thing, though? The underscore was poignant in so many places to the point of being syrupy. Sometimes I felt like I was listening to a smooth jazz sountrack composed by Yanni or John Jesh or somebody . The underscore alone almost made me feel like I was being punked from the get go and being set up for some sweet thingy at the end


You're right, David would have done it differently. But hey, James Spader was at least sufficiently smarmy though

I love Spader. He's the Gielgund of fetish sex movies — "Sex, Lies, and Videotape," "Crash," (the Cronenberg one, not the shitty Oscar-winning one) "Secretary." Quite a resume of films.
