I saw that. I was disturbed and intrigued at the same time. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Okay, you are kinda right...but what if you look at it from another angle: you know, the idea that this was a BDSM relationship that maybe inspired co-dependency ...I could sorta see how two people in the thick of that would sorta ride off into the proverbial sunset...I think... Aw hell, it's Hollywood. In some abstract Japanese film following through on the deprivation experience could sell, but I guess for the US market they had to put a "safe" closure on it

The way it was filmed though looked too romantic and sweet. David Lynch would have done it differently, I'm sure.

Meh
Seems like one of those movies that won't live up to the hype. People said the same things about Bound.

Moderator | Love the movie....hate the ending. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

The end was a bit silly. I think it would have been better without the stupid news coverage. and I think it would have been enough if he'd come to get her after the boyfriend left. If it weren't for those two things, it would have been perfect.

Remember this ex?:
As soon as it was over, she wanted me to spank her and fuck her in the ass. Then again, that was a typical night in bed for us.

The way it was filmed though looked too romantic and sweet. David Lynch would have done it differently, I'm sure. He sure would've . It might have left some people curled up in the fetal position after watching the movie but yes, it would have been intense . Another thing I was thinking was that David Lynch would have used entirely different music to create more tension in the story (tension, after all, being an important component in the BDSM experience) . Do you remember the music in this thing, though? The underscore was poignant in so many places to the point of being syrupy. Sometimes I felt like I was listening to a smooth jazz sountrack composed by Yanni or John Jesh or somebody . The underscore alone almost made me feel like I was being punked from the get go and being set up for some sweet thingy at the end You're right, David would have done it differently. But hey, James Spader was at least sufficiently smarmy though

This movie was great, though I'm with sexton on disliking the rather corny ending.
I love Spader. He's the Gielgund of fetish sex movies — "Sex, Lies, and Videotape," "Crash," (the Cronenberg one, not the shitty Oscar-winning one) "Secretary." Quite a resume of films.
