Sure you have rich towns like Chelsea and Brookline but then you have Dorchester and West Roxbury to even it out! I dunno, I go to places that are very diverse so I don't see it. Chelsea rich? Carrie, gorgeous, I KNOW you're thinking of someplace else! I have to be, huh? Maybe it was Cambridge

I have always been in love with Boston for some reason, I really want to spend time there. So far I've only spent a few hours there wandering around...whats that old market area called again, its quite touristy now? We were skiing in Vermont, flew to Boston. But I want to work there, live there, know what all those things in Carrie's list mean... I am drawn to it Rock n roll baby

Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall! THATS IT! Well I was gutted, cause I was already in love with Boston and the whole highlight of the trip was passing through it on the way there and the way back, I knew there were much better things I could have seen, I'd read all the bloody lonely planet books lol! It was a school trip though, so I will definitely go back, I want to work in the states and Boston is #1 on my list :dream: Rock n roll baby

paintedlady said: wHiTEgIRlCrAzY said: Isn't Boston one of the most racist cities in America?
Haven't been to all the cities in America, but ummm... depends on who you ask. I say hell yes. But its still a great place to live... and its getting better. I think this is the perception because of all the problems that occurred when they were busing and integrating public schools in 60s and 70s. And also because Bill Russell received a lot of hate mail and his home was constantly broken into by racists. Plus the Sox were one of the last baseball teams to integrate and relatively recently actively recruited African-American players. So there's definitely a public perception that Beantown is racist. I'm not saying that it still is just that there's some basis for the perception.

I was born in Boston and have lived there, as well as across the river in Cambridge. To be sure, most of my years have been spent elsewhere (Midwest and West Coast). But I'm proud to be a Bostonian by birth, and I try to visit the area at least once a year. Most of my extended family is still in that area, and my grandmother has a nice place on the Cape, just a few blocks from the beach. BTW, I always smile when I see those "Cape Cod Resident Tunnel Permit" stickers on people's front bumpers.
