So for Lunch :-( ~sad~

So for lunch,

I get to put one of my cats to sleep neutral

It was supposed to happen yesterday but the vet wanted to give the cat one more day to see how it was doing.

She's a 15 year old domestic calico cat. She HATES me (she actually belongs to my sister, but I've been keeping her the last 12 months).

I knew that she would die on me. I knew that I would be the one who had to stand with her while they put her to sleep. I just wasn't expecting it so soon.

And even though I've owned pets all my life, I've never been present when they've passed away. This one will feel so perverse to me neutral.
Like she's dying by my own hand. Like I've been given some unnatural power over her.

And it's unfair that she has to be given a send off by a man she hates rather than her own mommy sad

Other than that I'm having a great fucking day, let me tell ya.

I am sorry Dan.
It is not as bad as you would imagine it to be. Well it wasn't for me though the day I had to do it my dog was acting fine and healthy.. that little bugger.

Just know that you are doing the right thing for the cat.

Lots of love and support coming your way. hug

bawl hug I'm so sorry to hear about this, Dan. I've had to have cats puts to sleep already, and it is never easy. One of my cats I had put to sleep at almost 15 years of age because he had kidney failure (his kidneys were shutting down). The other cat I had put to sleep at 11 years of age because he had cancer. But your cat had 15 years of life, and that is pretty darn good. I was in room when my almost 15 year old cat was put to sleep. It really is not as bad as you may think. The vet just gives the cat a shot, and the cat passes away peacefully. It is a very hard thing to do, I know. But you're doing what's best for your cat.

I once took a stray cat that made our garden his home to the vet cuz he was developing a nasty abces on his cheek. Once there the doc said there was no help possible cuz the infection almost got it's way through the skull so he decided to put the cat down. It costed me close to $150 to get it done. Either that or let it die in my garden sad I think I did the right thing nod

I once picked up a Doberman that had been hit by a car. It cost me $1,500 to fix it (the dog). When I finally found the owner, he said, "$1,500?!? I would have put it to sleep, man!"

He reimbursed me for half and I got to keep the dog. Dobermans are great dogs, BTW.

I have 2 cats around 14-15 as well. I have never had to put down any pet. I am so not looking forward to putting either of them down. I've had them since they were 1 & 3 respectively.

I know I am going to be a mess when I have to.
