I can. sigh I've seen my parents twice in over 3 years. sad About 5 times in 5 years.

That will be me. I seriously doubt either one of my parents will ever make it over here so it will be me doing to the flying back home. Neither one of them has/will call me either.. they act like I moved to a different planet instead of country.

It is hard some times especially when someone is sick back home.

It's not just you, I am doing this all the time, but then again I am quite complicated wink . We need to "live" our emotions and feelings intead of repressing them, it's a healty and necessary thing nod.

yes, I like to think so, but I have no-one to tell these things to. I have always had a very strong desire to go back to my motherland to live, the reason why I never became an Australian citizen. I could have gone back any time, but I went and started a "real life" for myself here, without thinking, and now I cannot go back. I have to deal with that daily.

You aren't Australian? I never knew that! I remember when I was at university in Pittsburgh, getting on that plane at the end of a holiday to go back to school was the worst feeling. comfort

I have your CD. I'm just waiting for one more item to arrive in the post before I send you a nice big two-month-late birthday present. hug

time is hard. I have to make a trip to my grandparents' and it's so expensive & inconvenient, but I really have to, right? They're getting so old, now. I might not get an other chance.

I think I know how you feel. My grandma is 98 and lives 1000 miles away. She has dementia so it's hard to call her, but even with memory loss, she's still a great person. I was suffering so much at one point because I didn't know if I'd ever see her again. I decided to volunteer at a local nursing home. It helped A LOT. It got my mind off missing grandma and also helped me feel like I could connect with her (or that feeling of loss within myself) by helping others who are in a similar situation to hers.

I guess it helps to know that we are not alone in our life choices.
I try to just deal with it and not feel too guilty.
