Have you ever noticed how often people use the word "basically"? I seem to notice more use of the word lately. It seems to be a filler word that is used as often as, "You know", "Like", etc. etc.

i know someone who uses this like every other word.

i'm so guilty of using 'like' too much, yet i notice when he keeps saying 'basically.'

It's a nervous-use word.

Like using "Um" when you're giving speeches, some folks will use "basically"

Actually, I find the use of "actually" to be actually quite annoying.

I think my brother started that trend. Unfortunately I have adopted it to some extent.

It tends to be contagious, for some reason. It seems like once you hear one person use it, you find yourself doing the same.

i remember back in the 90's .. i went for this job interview and after my interview (i got the job) ..the interviewer told me.. if anyone used that word 'basicly' .. she didnt hire them lol... yes this word seems to fill in for other words..
