That's what I was thinking initially...but then they brought in Ed Norton and Liv Tyler. How can you say 'no' to THAT combination? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I don't get why so many hated the first Hulk movie. Ang Lee created a film version of a comic book. It was brilliant... Plus Jennifer Connelly was in it.
That being said, I also didn't like the CGI, but whattayagonnado? [Edited 3/21/08 8:29am] "He's a musician's musician..."

That being said, I also didn't like the CGI, but whattayagonnado? Ang Lee Ruined Stan Lee's version of the Hulk. Ang Lee tried (unsuccesfully it seems) to develop the dual-nature aspects of the Banner/Hulk character(s). A friend of mine tried to explain it to me once (something about the Id and the Ego and the Superego...made my head spin). This time around it's supposed to be more like the TV version with Banner evading the government. Less psychoemotional banter. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I thought Ang Lee did a good job, but I have no idea why he was chosen to direct in the first place. He's not an action movie director.

It's always cool to see Ed and Tim Roth, but both films just look so... so... fake. I can't get excited about this. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Doesn't really look like an improvement on the last one.

I have a great fear this movie will suck hulk proportions.
Nothing about it has grabbed me yet. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

As all of you online junkies knew, Marvel and Universal’s “The Incredible Hulk” has been dealing with some problems. While most movies go through battles in the editing room between the director and the studio, the Hulk’s battle ended up going public. While we all knew Edward Norton was fighting with Marvel over the final cut of the movie, no one knew exactly what they were fighting over. But thanks to an Entertainment Weekly article, we now have the facts. It seems that Edward and director Louis Leterrier wanted a 2 hour and 15 minute running time that moved a bit slower and probably had more character work, but Marvel wanted a lean film that moved quick and was as commercial as possible. According to the article, Marvel won. While I can’t fault Marvel for trying to make a commercial movie that moves quick and has a lot action…they were pretty stupid to not see this battle coming. Edward has a long history with getting involved with the editing process and isn’t afraid to battle over his opinion. Now, with Marvel releasing a film that Edward isn’t happy with, they’re only going to cause more problems down the road. After all, Edward not doing press is a major problem. Anyway, here are the two paragraphs you should read from the EW article. The first sums up the battle and the second is Edward’s statement to the magazine. According to Leterrier, he and his star hit it off beautifully, and there were no issues with Marvel while the movie was being shot. During post-production, though, the relationship with Marvel hit a snag. The company wanted to release the most commercial film possible: lots of action and a running time under two hours. Norton and Leterrier, however, lobbied for a more meditative cut of the film that ran about two hours and 15 minutes. Tempers flared between Norton and Marvel. 'Everyone was exhausted; it was like a little burst,' Leterrier says. 'I'm angry with you!' 'No, I'm angry with you!' And me in the center saying 'Boys, calm down.' It didn't come to blows. It was just a remark here and there.' And it would have ended there. But, Leterrier says, 'then it became public.' Edward’s statement "Like so many people I've loved the story of The Hulk since I was a kid, so it was thrilling when Marvel asked me to write and help produce an altogether new screen incarnation, as well as play Bruce Banner. I grew up reading Marvel Comics and always loved the mythic dimension and contemporary themes in the stories, and I’m proud of the script I wrote. In every phase of production, including the editing, working with Louis Leterrier has been wonderful...I've never had a better partner, and the collaboration with all the rest of the creative team has been terrific. Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other's opinions is the heart of filmmaking. Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a 'dispute,' seized on by people looking for a good story, and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen. It has always been my firm conviction that films should speak for themselves and that knowing too much about how they are made diminishes the magic of watching them. All of us believe The Incredible Hulk will excite old fans and create new ones and be a huge hit...our focus has always been to deliver the Hulk that people have been waiting for and keep the worldwide love affair with the big green guy going strong.' They didn't want a repeat of the Ang Lee version. That was the point in re-booting this franchise. I really liked the Ang Lee film, but I seem to be in a minority. Ed Norton and the director are the ones who were stupid to not see this battle coming, not Marvel. Marvel wasn't going to move an inch on this one after the reaction to the last one.
