Anyone Have a Kindle?

Kindle

I haven't seen one and I'm curious about what it's like to read.

Anyone have or use one?

I hadn't really thought about it until now, based on 9.99 per book, with as many books as I buy, the return on investment would be there in a couple months, AND you save on paper usage. I like it, but now they're sold out.

Does it do books in braille?
Cuz that's what I need.

And before any of y'all ask,
yes. I read all of y'all's posts by running my fingers across my computer screen.
Plaese take that into account the next time any of y'all decides to post a reply with a considerable amount of type in it.
(Any of y'all from the P&R forum "listening" to this?)

Think of the opportunities and the impact on the environment if universities would adopt this format.

It makes so much sense, but there is no way the publishers would give up the $150 for a text they would have to sell for $50 digitally.

I'm sure they could still find a way to make money, charge extra for devices that come bundled with all sorts of texts and course materials or something like that.

The publishers are often more savvy than the Universities regarding developments in technology.

I hear you.

Can I add and say I would love one? I haven't got the patience to read all that stuff or watch American trailers for gadgets (shudder), but it's something I would love to connect to gutenberg.org

Would it work with Word files? Cuz then I'ld LOOOOOVE one.

Project Gutenberg! love

I don't think it works with Word files. And I think it only works in the States for the moment anyhow.

I'd buy one if it would work with word files for Gutenberg books. All of them classics; mushy

I REALLY want one of these! I am hoping I'll be able to read scripts this way someday soon!

The reviews are a little mixed, but lean toward the positive mostly.

If these really catch on, Bezos is changing the publishing world.

Actually, if you read about all it can do on Amazon - I believe you can send Amazon ANY kind of document file (word, pdf) and they will up load it for you and send it to your Kindle.
