Homesick... How do you deal with homesickness when you can't afford to go home?
...Or worse yet,How do deal with it if you are no longer welcome at what was once home? ~~~~~~~~~~~

Here is what I do...I will call them and just bitch about shit...no money, hate my roommmates, blah blah blah. After about three to four days of this they start to feel bad so they will do one of three things. They will come to chicago to see me, two send me money to come home, or else they will just send me money. Either way I get what I want and they get to see me, my squaking mother and all...right moonbeam.

They won't send me money to come home. The last time I saved up enough money to get home, my family didn't want to see me and I had to stay with a friend.
Even then it was better to just be in town, rather than this stupid city I have to live in now. ~~~~~~~~~~~

Your family did not want to see you that is I am sorry to hear that...Yes I agree there is always a certian degree of comfort to go back to your hometown. Especially if you are not happy with where you are at the present time.

Awww... I am sorry that your family feels that way. Just keep in mind that family is still there... you have your friends. I hope you get home soon, CandyEyce.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

I can understand you wanting to at least see your family and be around them even if they aren't necessarily returning the affection. Have you ever confronted them about it? Maybe there is another reason they are responding that way, or perhaps they don't realize they're doing that. Push comes to shove, bus trips are dirt cheap. Sure they take a little (er alot) longer, but you can always use the time as time to yourself, to think things over and get away from whatever responsibilities you have at the moment (work,school...). At least you're telling your folks you care about them.
