Do you, like, *know* shit about computers? (Gmail and Windows questions)

The default one (that alerts you when someone is messaging you) bugs the shit outta me.

I know there's an option to turn it off, but what I'm lookin' for's a hack to replace the default sound with something else.

Much thanks in advance,
A.

And while we're at it:

My frickin' laptop just restarted on its own (to finish installing some kind of Windows security update deal). I had some shit on my "Notepad" and now it's gone. pissed What the cock's up with that? mad

Is there any way of retrieving it? wall

dunno about the notepad stuff, as that isnt really a decent program i assume it might be gone, word on the other hand has an "auto save" which isnt the best but sometimes keeps stuff just in case something like that happens.

On the sound things go into control panel (through the start button) then Sounds, speech and audio then change the sound scheme and find the thing you want to change

or that razz I find it rather funny that Windows is the most commonly used OS but 90% of people have no clue how to use it efficiently...and the amount of crap that comes with it that you dont need is ridiculous!

I didn't think you could control Web-based shit (e.g. Gmail) via that. confuse

While all you smarties are checking this out, please answer this:

Can you have an Apple/PC wireless network? For instance, can I hook up my DSL to my iMac, then wirelessly transmit to the network cards in my PCs, and have internet access on the PCs?

Thanks.

some things you can, otherwise just check in the Gmail settings when you log into it next time, there should be some option to turn stuff off.

Rodeo im not too sure about that, but it does sound doable, does your PC have a wireless receiver in it? or you could just buy a router which would solve your problems

There's an option to turn it off, but I don't wanna do that - I wanna replace it.
