"Isn't my furry Baby Killer adoWable?"

Jennifer Ruckel never saw it coming, she said on a recent afternoon. One minute she was sitting on her bed talking to her sister Robin, laughing and watching her 18-month-old son Taylor dance on the rug at their feet ---- the next, their 30 seconds of terror began.

With no provocation or warning, the family's 5-year-old pit bull, Molly, suddenly lunged across the room and grabbed Taylor's head in its jaws and began shaking the boy like a rag doll.

Did I mention they kill children?

Why are people so nuts about them? I mean unless you want cheap protection for your home and don't feel comfortable owning a gun, what's the point?

because cats can't fit football jerseys woot!

and besides...kids do the same stuff you mentioned, so why have them either?

All dogs do not kill children. Actually 99.9% of them don't. If they shit everywhere it's the owners fault for not training them where to go. They don't break stuff if you teach them not to. What diseases do they spread???? Yeah, they will steal unprotected food.

How could you not love faces like these. . .

my dog will only shit right by trees. His favorite is evergreen cause he likes his privacy while he's doing his duty. Which is good, cause it means he typically craps in the landscaping where no one i s walking.

I like 'em. I wouldn't say I absolutely love them, but I do the ones I know and have owned or lived with. To a point. I miss 'em.

The chickens, goats, horses, pigs, etc. in this neighborhood (yes, I said neighborhood - it's Kauai, don't ask) just don't make up for having a dog around. They're so loving and dependable, and always glad to see you. They need love and affection the same way people do. And they all have their own personalities.

Exactly. Thank goodness not everyone feels the need to be a dog owner. Humans can be so ignorant some times.

I agree.
I am in the process of trying to figure out what my next dog will be. I am doing the research. The breeds are different here than back home and the climate is different. There is a lot of things to consider before owning a dog.
Just like having kids. It is a life long commitment.

I got it, I got it!! Border terrier, I can't believe it didn't hit me while we were talking. Same grooming as the ms, smaller dog but sturdy and no where near as yappy as other terriers. Positive dogs but not nervous, active but not hyper. It's my next dog breed! woot! I'll get back to you on health issues nod

GIRL!! You and I are on the same wave length. I was just reading up on them. We were watching the Krufts (sp?) dog show the other night. I was looking up the popular dog breeds for here. The border terrier came up in my search. When I saw the pic of the terrier pup in the post in this thread I thought about the Border terrier again.
I like what I read so far except the grooming thing. I do not want another dog that goes to the groomers for a hair cut more than me.
no no no!
I am sure that I could sort out how to do the special technique they talk about to avoid the hair getting too long.
I could not groom Willie myself because he was a spaz.
Yippy... I will look into this more. I am afraid I will see something I really want before we go away. I cannot think about getting anything until May at the earliest. We are going to have house guests in June so maybe I should hold off until after all of that as well.
I need to find some cuter pics of them.. I showed my other half the pics I found the other night and he curled up his nose.

I agree with the first post,I hate dogs, they're stupid and messy and in my experience UNtrainable, can't be trusted.Ok,u occasionally get a good dog but they're usually old and just lie there, anyway thats my opinion on dogs, now, give me a cat any day, they're the ideal pet,as loyal as dogs but they don't crap everywhere only in their allocated spot, they take themselves for walks and they're sooooo loveable, and don't wreck the joint and steal ur food. I love cats x heart
