Awe geez, I don't really try and celebrate an actual birthday, but celebrate each day.
Thank you for all your beautiful mentions, wishes and gosh... many of you stole my a long time ago... and still, no matter where I am in life, many of you will always be a part of my life, always. Please never be strangers. I did take the day off, (work has been so busy), it was nice to have a free day and not a typical day off. I went to see the Masterpiece Replayed Exhibition. Monet, Matisse and more... Needless to say, as I walked towards the highly secured area... there right before me... was this... Woman In Blue. Painted by Henri Matisse in 1937. I couldn't believe it... I couldn't believe I almost cried, I felt so overwhelmed and I was taken back to just how much. I love Matisse and to be so near to his making, to know he touched and created what was before me. It's hard to explain, but I can just look and search an actual real piece of a Matisse painting for hours, easily. To the right of this amazing piece were 12 photo series in B&W of the change (completely redone) and repetition of this one actual painting. Amazing. This whole exhibition showed how many of the 19th century French Painters repeated themselves in their painting, often painting the same scene over and over. Still Life With Sleeping Woman. Painted in 1940. I also saw some of Richard Avedon's work, as they also have an exhibition of his here at our Phoenix Art Museum. Wow! http://www.richardavedon.com/ (worth a look) Peter Berger I thought of you. Then I thought of Martina, then I thought of Marion and I bought you all something. ~Smile. Anyways, I had a beautiful day. Which later proceeded into ceramic painting with my sister and a few of my best friends and a nice dinner/chat. Now I am off to visit my family. Beautiful day to you all. , Julie | |
